Three Months Later

It's been three months since everything happened. Shane's getting worst even if he doesn't want to show it. His mom took him out of school a month ago because he was getting so bad. He's lost a lot of weight and he's paler. I'm helping him every second I can. I've been spending a lot more time with his family and him. I've grown closer to Amber and Simon and especially Simone lately. A week ago Shane was put in the hospital because he was getting even worse. I spend pretty much everyday I can by his side. My dads are supporting me on being with him as much as I can. The doctor told us that because of how bad he's gotten, that he might not have that much time left. The latest; a month left. I remember laying in bed and crying myself to sleep the night the doctor told us that. I still have his sweatshirt with me because he told me to keep it.

"Hey, baby" I said walking into his room.

He looked away from the TV and gave me a smile. "Hey" his voice was so scratchy

"How're you feeling?" I asked

"Better now that you're here" He said. I smiled as I placed a quick kiss on his lips.

"Where's your mom?"  I asked

"Getting some coffee."

I nodded as I looked at the TV. "What're you watching?"

"Pursuit of Happiness"

"Good movie" I said "Have you ate today?" He nodded

"I just ate a couple minutes before you came.'' He said

"Good."

Just then Simone walked in with a coffee in her hands.

"Hey, Amelia" I waved at her "How's your dads?"

"Good, they actually went out to lunch for their anniversary." I said

"Oh, where did they go for lunch?"

"Some fancy restaurant my dad found."

"Fun"

I nodded. I turned to Shane to see him asleep. Over the past months he's become weaker and weaker, which means he's a lot more tired.

I yawned looking at the clock. It was only nine at night but I was still tired. I've been up all night and day doing college applications

"Maybe you should get home and get some rest." Simone said

"No, I'm fine" I said rubbing my eyes

"No, you're tired. Now kiss Shane goodnight and go home so you can get some sleep." I sighed as I stood up and kissed Shane on the cheek. I hugged Simone and headed home.

"Hey, sweetie. Back so soon." Dad said

"Simone kicked me out because I was tired, so I'm just going to go to bed then go back to the hospital in the morning." I said

I gave both dads kisses on the cheek before I headed upstairs to bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.

-Five hours later-

I woke up by my phone ringing. I looked at my alarm clock to see it was 2:45 in the morning. I groaned as I answered the phone without looking at the Caller ID.

"Hello" I said groggily into the phone

"Amelia, it's Simone" I sat up rubbing my eyes.

"Oh, what's up?"

"Um...." I could hear the tears in her voice. Worry went through my veins praying to God she wasn't calling for what I thought she was calling for.

"What's wrong?"

"I'm so sorry, honey, but Shane flat lined about an hour ago. I just got the courage to call you. I'm so, so sorry"

I sat there shocked as tears instantly fell from my eyes. "T-thank you" I managed to say before I hung up.

Sobs immediately escaped my mouth as my knees were against my chest and my arms wrapped around them.

'He's gone' I thought as I cried

Seconds later someone opened my door and walked in.

"Sweetie, what's wrong?" I heard Dad ask. I looked up through my teary eyes to see both of my dads standing there.

"He's gone" I sobbed "Shane's gone" Instantly I felt two pairs of arms wrap around me.

"Shh... It will be alright. He's in a better place now. He's not in any pain anymore." Daddy said kissing my forehead.

For the rest of the night I cried into my dads' shoulders.
