The Proposal

The last thing Marcel remembered was kneeling before James and then blacking out only to wake up moments later strapped to a bed in what looked like a prison cell, his first instinct was to try and break-free but for some unknown reason he couldn't it was like all his strength had disappeared, he kept trying until a doctor came in "How are we feeling today, Mr Gerard?", the doctor had a clipboard, of which he was yet to take his eyes off, and pen in his left hand "Where am I?" Marcel asked both confused and angry as he looked around the room "Have you forgotten what happened yesterday, you attacked one of the nurses and so had to be sedated and returned to your room until you had calmed down which doesn't seemed to have worked" the doctor finally looked up at Marcel who was still struggling "But luckily it's time for your medication which should do the job perfectly" as he said this he removed a syringe of medicine that resembled vervain, seeing this syringe made Marcel struggle more up until he was injected in which he became calm and drowsy.

After the doctor injected Marcel he unstrapped him and let him out with the rest of the patients of the psychiatric ward who were wandering around like zombies, mumbling to themselves, they didn't seem that much aware of their surroundings bumping into each other but despite this when Marcel was released they seemed to keep their distance from him, even at mealtimes they avoided him, all except one, a teenage boy who wasn't as drugged as the others and decided to sit with Marcel " So you're The Vampire, The Beast of New Orleans, you look bigger in person" the boy seemed intrigued by Marcel, when he wasn't eating he'd be looking him up and down " What'd you call me?" Marcel as lost all signs of confusion and now had a look of hope, thinking the boy knew about the real him "Marcel Gerard, the famous psychiatrist turned murderer, sentenced to life in prison for your unique string of murders across the country" this left Marcel intrigued who wanted to know more "You've done well so far, what else do you know?" he leant on the table slightly, moving forward "Well I know that you successfully killed 209 people by hypnosis and draining them of their blood, I also know that you hypnotised a police officer every time you moved in order to stay one step ahead of everyone and you were recruiting people to help your cause, which is why the patients stay away from you" the boy started eating again and playing with his food, seeming more like a child than a teenager with a mental health condition "So why are you sitting with me then" the boy kept eating and without looking up simply replied with "Without my teddy bears to protect me I'm defenceless in here", Marcel felt less drowsy and could think more clearly, allowing him to get an idea of why the teenager was here but before they could continue Marcel was called away by a guard who escorted him to a secure room where his attorney was sat along with a man and woman who remained standing, who both resembled James' parents "Greetings Marcellus, how are you holding up" the attorney said as Marcel sat down, Marcel looked at his attorney's name tag which read Jay and wondered why he seemed familiar "I'm doing as well as any other person in here", the familiar feeling got stronger once Marcel was seated, looking at the papers in front of him and then at the people present "My colleagues and I have looked deep into your case and come to the conclusion that you're far from guilty but you're not insane" Jay seemed full of optimism and so answered cheerfully to Marcel's annoyance "And how's this supposed to make me feel better, I'm stuck in prison with a life sentence" before Jay could respond the woman with a name tag that read Elizabeth spoke "You called for us the moment you were moved from Mystic Falls to this New Orleans prison and handed us your case to look into and this is all we could do for you" this didn't make Marcel any happier and so Jay decided to add " Look on the bright side as long as you give up the names of the people you were recruiting you'll be able to be relocated to the regular part of the prison and then you could try cleaning yourself up a bit" Marcel looked at the mirrored window and at first glance saw his own reflection but then it changed to show someone else which instantly explained what was going on "I worked alone and only used the police force to help me" Marcel's gaze remained fixed on the window as he inspected himself while Jay pleaded for Marcel to change his mind "Are we done here?" Marcel said with a small smile as he turned back to Jay who went silent before nodding, Marcel then stood and went to the door "You're making a big mistake, son, you'll regret this" was the last thing Marcel heard as he left the room.

Back at The Abattoir Caroline had woken up, now fully rested as Klaus watched over her close-by and paced the room, he then rushed to Caroline's side as she sat up " Are you okay, are you still in pain, do you need anything?" James had told Klaus that his new state had granted his blood a cure to Marcel's bite but he was still shocked when it worked "Klaus!, I'm fine" this calmed Klaus down as she sat up " Thanks for saving me, no amount of lighting or makeup could make the wedding photos worth sharing" this brought a smile to Klaus' face " You know I'd do anything for you" Klaus thought through the response before coming to the realisation of what she had said "And whose wedding would that be then?" He asked with a big grin " Ours, of course, I'm done waiting and distracting myself, Klaus Mikaelson will you marry me?" Caroline responded with a smile " I wouldn't expect more from you, Caroline Forbes, taking charge and asking such a big question of which my answer is yes, I'll give you the grandest wedding of your immortal lifetime"
