Chariot duty

I'm the last stop on the McKinley "school bus", aka my mom's minivan. The minivan parks in front of Milton Mills High School, and my Dad helps me out of the car. The school was such a large campus for a high school. Since my ribs weren't quite healed my doctor recommended keeping to the wheelchair while I'm at school, and only using crutches for short distances. With a wheelchair I also get a chauffeur.
" Bye Joshua," my mom calls as she fixes her extremely curly hair into a ponytail.
" Bye mom," I mumble.

As my dad helps me out of the car, a very embarrassing routine that's developed, I greet my driver: the infamous Kara Smith, my ex- best friend.

Kara is smart, sweet, and has always been a good friend to me. Despite how badly I've treated her she still agreed to wheel me around. Plus we have the same schedule, which is pretty convenient.

" Bye son, bye Kara," my dad said pulling me out of my thoughts.
" Bye," I say.
" Goodbye, Mr. Mckinley," Kara says.

As the warning bell rings we head to first period, which is in building 2, where the bulk of our classes are. Most days we stay quiet with the occasional greeting. I guess we figured with everything going on and our past it would be best. Today, however, I debated on breaking our cone of silence to ask questions about what happened in my room early on. Kara and Jack are some of the best Christians I know, so maybe she will have some answers, as I can't ask Jack right now.

Despite, my need for an answer I remain quiet.

Upon reaching AP Chemistry, I know surprisingly I do have a brain, she parks me next to my partner before sitting to her best friend, Sheila, who quickly rolled her eyes and scrunched her nose at me. She hates what I did to Kara, and I hate what I did too. Mrs. Kelli soon walks in and starts class.
