It had currently been a week since I met Eli, and a week and half since Jack woke up, and today he's being released.
" Look who's finally making his great escape," I say while swaggering into Jack's packed up room. As I see him ready to go waiting in a wheelchair. A grimace reached upon my face seeing him in it. Although it was his chariot ride out of here I still couldn't help the slight guilt that panged everytime I see him. I mean he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my stupidity.
" Well, you didn't have the guts to break me out sooner, so I had no choice but to do it myself," he replies with a chuckle pulling me out of my thoughts.
" Alright, you got me there," I call back.
" So you guys ready," I ask while making a beat on the edge of the bed to calm my jittery nerves.
" Yep, we should be," Mrs. Jenny says as she takes the heavy luggage off the now empty hospital bed, and I easily take it from her as Mr. C walks out of the restroom with another bag in.
" Hey, you guys I would like to pray before we leave," Mr. Colin's says with a very determined look. So I set the duffle bag on the ground as we all gathered in a circle and held hands.
" Thank you Lord for today," He begins as we all bow our heads. " Thank you for Your divine healing Lord, andhealing my son. Thank you that he can walk out of the hospital with minor injury," I nod at that, " I leave in your hands this fine hospital and all those who work and seek care here. Give them the ability to service any and all patients and help your people Lord. Bless those who are patients here allow them to recover and heal if it be Your will. Thank you for all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and surgeons that helped us and everyone here. Help them to continue to do their best. Bless their lives and families. Bless us on our journey of getting back to normal. Thank you for handling all the finances. We love you and thank you Lord. Amen," He concludes as we all say," Amen."
" Alright now we're ready to go," Mr. C says.
" Oh wait," I say as they all groan. " I brought the shades you let me borrow.
Cause you've been trapped in here and it'll be pretty bright out," I say as I hand him the sunglasses.
" Oh that's so sweet, " Mrs. Jenny coos. To which us men roll our eyes at.
" Yeah, thanks bro," He says with a genuine smile before slipping them on.
" Alright, now let's blow this popsicle stand," Jack voices excitedly as we all roll out.
As we stepped outside the now empty room I spotted a familiar face, belonging to none other than, Eli. A smile rose across his face as he saw me. He quickly rushed from the other side of the floor before hugging my knees.
"Oh well, hi there, Eli," I greet, while hugging him back.
" Hello, Joshua," he beams while looking up at my face," I just wanted to say tank you for prayin for my mommy," he says cheerfully bouncing up on his toes.
" No, problem little dude," I tell him as I bend down slightly.
" She's better now, see," he says, while pointing to a bright, room filled with smiling faces and laughter. Right in the middle of a hospital bed was a woman, sitting up in bed enjoying the company around her.
" She's all better now," he confirms again.
" Yes, I see, and do you who to thank," I ask all teacher like.
" Jesus," he pips excitedly.
"Exactly! So here what I want you to do," he nods expectantly, " Before you go to bed to night, thank Jesus for healing your mom. Alright?"
" I will," he nods firmly.
" Okay, pinky promise," I ask holding out my pinky, to which he responds by latching mine with his.
" Alright, it was nice meeting you little man," I ruffle his hair.
" You to," his says as he races back to his family. His grandpa waving as we all left out.
Thank you, Jesus. I whisper.
" So what did happen, while I was sleeping," Jack asks.
" Long story," I murmur.
