As of this moment it has been a little over a month since the crash. Two weeks since Jack got out the hospital. Three days since he came back to school. Three weeks since I've been helping with the talent show, and tonight was the night. Over those three weeks Kara and I got closer, which was amazing.
So far, everyone's been running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It was currently 7:15 and the show starts at 7:30.Everything was already in place, so our choir director/ talent show director gathered us for a quick prayer. All of the crew and constants came together as Michael, a dancer, prayed.
" Lord bless this show. Allow everything to run smoothly, and everyone's performances to go amazingly. Allow us to just go out there and have fun, not focusing on winning. We leave this night in your hands, In Your Name we pray, Amen."
" Amen," we all conclude.
After the quick prayer I go to find Kara to wish her luck. I spot her and opened my mouth to greet her, but was interrupted by the talent show director.
" Alrighty, everyone, places," Mrs. Daniels announced.
" Hey, Joshua," she says as I become a loss for words. She looked stunning.
"Um, Joshua," she asks.
" Oh, hey," I greet once finding the words. " You look very pretty," I say genuinely.
" Well, thank you," she says a smile gracing her face.
" Mckinnley get a move on we have a show to do," Jessica, a tiny firecracker, who is my partner in the sound booth.
" Coming," I tell her before turning back to Kara.
" Well, anyway I wanted to say_," " Oh come on," Jessica interrupts rudely yanking me from my conversation. For being so tiny she sure was strong and feisty. "Good luck," I shout over Jessica's protests as Kara laughs.
" You sure I shouldn't be saying that to you," she says over giggles.
" Probably," I shout back.

It was now 7:30, and people were settling in. Everything in the sound booth was ready to go, so I slipped out for a few moments to help with the ticketing and clothing drive.
" Hey there he is," I here a familiar voice and I look up to see the whole gang, plus Jack.
" Hey, guys," I say, while vacating my spot. I hug the girls, and us guys do our little handshake," What is everyone doing here," I ask, more pointedly at Jack.
" Well, we came here to watch the show, you know the one Kara's performing in," Jake says slowly, as if I were dumb.
" Oh yeah right, well I'll see you guys in there. Here are you tickets, and if you have any donations set them in the bucket over there," I tell them.
" Oh, so professional," Jake mimics, while Sheila and Lily laugh. Blake slipped his arm around Lily, when did that happen?
Jack walked up to me, looking fully recovered for just waking out of a coma, about two weeks ago.
" Don't screw up," he says with a smirk, while clapping me on the back.
" Thanks, that really boosts my confidence," I yell back before helping the next person in line.

So far the show had been a huge success. We've had rappers go up, spoken word, singing, juggling, magic tricks, and surprisingly gymnastics as well.
" Next up dancing her way across the stage is Kara Smith," I hear one of the emcees tell the crowd.
" Alrighty, here we go," I whisper to myself.
" Go Kara," I hear someone from the audience shout probably Jake. Once the crowd settled down I heard, " We're a go," through my headset, and pressed play on the soundsystem. The song she gave us blasting through the air as she began her interpretive dance. I was completely mesmerized by her movements. Her choreography and song resonating in my mind as I think back on everything that's happened.
' Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me,' the chorus shouted back at me as I remembered the crash.Shattered windows all around. I was back there all alone in the dark, Jack wasn't responding. Im truly scared, I... I cant breathe. Pictures and memories flooding through my brain, but was replaced with a black and thick tar. The word,' sin' was bolded in white and swirled in the tar tornado, but then there was a light, a whole, a means of escape. I climbed out of the tar pit, the shattered window, and standing there was my escape. Shrouded in light was a symbol of the cross. Jesus was my escape, He makes me alive, He helps me breathe with ease. I don't have to live in the tar pit anymore, I can live in the light of the Lord. The crash shattered more than a window, it shattered me awake.
At that realization, I entered back in the real world, I could breathe. It was the end of her performance, and she received a standing ovation, which she definitely deserved. I stand up, and clap as well, feeling free and at peace. No more guilt or pain. Thank you Jesus, I whispered.Disclaimer: I do not own the song or lyrics in this chapter. The song belongs to none other than Lindsey Sterling.
