He sat me down on the old hospital bed, and he pulled up a chair in front of me. I started twiddling my thumbs, because I was anxious to tell him something that has such a serious impact on my life. I inhaled deeply, and looked at him grimly.

"Whenever you're ready, Y/N." he said, sitting down in the chair. I looked down at my hands. They were shaking. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath.

"Okay." I said quietly. "My parents.. weren't my real parents. I was adopted." I started. "My real parents died when I was eleven, and I went to an orphanage. I was adopted by a rich man and his wife, but they only wanted me because their son needed a punching bag." I looked down again.

"I was severely abused by them, and I tried running away multiple times." I looked up at him, and his eyes met mine. "I ran away again, when I was fourteen, and they caught me before I got off the property." I trailed off.

"You probably won't believe me after this, but it's the honest truth." I said. "When they caught me, I was locked in the basement for four months. They only fed me once a week, and I was so dehydrated that I almost died. I wasn't in school, so nobody came looking for me. And because I was there for the boy...... I was used for whatever he wanted." I went silent. Tears began to swell in my eyes.

Smiley reached up and grabbed my hand.

"It's okay." He said calmly. "Just keep going." I took a deep breathe, and closed my eyes.

"In the four months they kept me locked away, my adoptive brother..." I trailed off, and curled up into a ball on the bed. I buried my face in my hands, and fell over crying.

"Y/N?" Smiley yelped, jumping up. Tears poured from my eyes, and I began to tremble. He gently touched my arm, and I looked up.

"Y/N, its okay. He's not here. Nobody's here." He rubbed my arm, and I began to calm down.

"Smiley.. I can't." I mumbled weakly. I pulled my legs closer, and crossed my ankles. He sat down beside me, and rubbed my back. I glanced at him from between my fingers, and I could see a darkness looming over him.

"Smiley?" I asked, tensing up slightly. "How many times?" He asked. I blinked back tears, and forced myself up. "Uhh...Well..." I fell silent. "It wasn't just him. When I got older, he had his friends... And my dad." I said, rubbing my arm nervously. He inhaled deeply.

"Are they still alive?" He asked, his voice deepened. I shrugged. "Probably." I wiped away a stray tear that escaped my eye and huffed.

"I finally got away from them when I was sixteen. Colton, their son, didn't close the door, and I made a break for it. I ran all the way to the hospital with blood running down my legs and the police went and arrested all of them. Colten, being sixteen as well, wasn't charged because he played innocent and got off the hook. I don't know where he went. But I'm scared to death that he's gonna find me..." I held my legs tightly, and lowered my head.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." Smiley wrapped his arm around me, and pulled me towards him. "You're my assistant. I'm not going to let anything happen to you." He said, looking at me. I looked up at him. His eyes were kind, and comforting, and, for the first time, I actually felt safe.
