*Your P.O.V*

He wasn't wrong. The woods were dense. I could hardly see the trees as I ran past them.

Alice was panting heavily in my arms as I ran, and I could hardly hold her up, but I wasn't going to abandon her. Colton would slaughter her, and make me watch. I ran until my legs gave out, and I collapsed in a pile of leaves and dirt. Mud splattered all over my legs and hands, and Alice too. I took a deep breath, and gathered Alice into my arms. She could tell I was scared, because she was being quiet.

I sat back against a tree, and felt Alice rest on my lap. I had lost Colton a while back. I felt safe for a moment. Taking another breath, I closed my eyes and leaned my head back.

Exhaustion took over, and I slipped into darkness.

I awoke to something bright. I covered my face with my arm and peered around, squinting. It was the sun breaking through the trees. I must have been close to the edge for the sun to be shining through like that. I forced myself up, but a sharp pain in my chest sent me to the ground again. I clutched my shirt, and rolled onto my back, breathing heavily. Alice whimpered and tugged on her leash that was wrapped around my arm.

"I can't baby.." I murmured weakly. "I think I'm dying....." My voice was weak and scratchy. I wouldn't breathe. Alice whimpered more, and tugged on the leash more. I grabbed the leash, and yanked it towards me, causing Alice to yelp.

"I'm sorry Alice." I whined, pushing myself up onto my elbows. I leaned down and kissed her nose, unhooking the leash from her collar.

"Go get help." I scratched behind her ear, just before collapsing. She barked loudly in my ear, making my eyes pop open.  I looked over at her, and she laid down next me, licking my arm.
I weakly reached over, grabbing her paw, and she licked my hand.

"I can't move Alice." I mumbled, the pain growing more intense. She whimpered, and jumped up, running in circles. I closed my eyes and clutched my chest. What was causing this pain?
I glanced down my shirt, and everything looked fine. Did Colton do something? Did he find me while I was asleep? No.. That was impossible.

I closed my eyes again, and laid my head against the dirt forest floor. Fatigue was taking over, and all the sounds began to blend together. I could faintly hear Alice whimpering, and she began to bark, but I fell asleep before I could see why.
