Matty

"Good morning, Matthew," my mother greeted the instant I got to the living room in the morning. Yeah, I was taking a huge chance. I had slept over. But... Unfortunately, Jay hadn't. His parents absolutely refused to let him stay at the house I was abused at and kicked out of for being gay. In fact, I was a little surprised they didn't try harder to stop me. But anyway, I digress.

"Morning, mum," I sighed, fixing myself something for breakfast. "What's the plan for today?" "I've got a date with Jay," I told her with an indifferent tone. Sure, I was happy as hell for that, but I still didn't quite trust her. She never, ever seemed to care about me, before. Not enough for me to have had a happy childhood, at least. Though, a lot of that was Dad's fault...

"That's nice, dear. Have fun," she wished, which made me stare at her. I don't know, I just don't trust her, yet. "What? Is something the matter?" "Uh, no, I guess... I just... No, it's nothing." "Okay," she chuckled, checking her phone as it dinged to alert her of a text. Her smile vanished, having been replaced by a fearful expression. "What is it, mom? Is something the matter?" "That was your father. He says his trip is almost over. He didn't say when he's getting back, though. I don't know what to think... But he won't be back today, I'm certain. He would have said so. It'll be alright if you wanted to stay here one more night, or anything. I don't know, what do you think?" "Hmm, I'll have to check with Mr. and Mrs. Olson... And Jaden..." "Oh," she sighed with what genuinely appeared to be some disappointment. I sighed in frustration and thought for a moment, deciding: "I guess I could stay over once more."

"There you are!" Jaden announced when he opened the door to see me before giving me a wonderful kiss. "My prince charming, here to whisk me away to a dream. How did it go with your mom?" "It was nice, actually. We played some board games together last night. I don't know if I really trust her, yet, but I can tell she's making a real effort." "That's great, baby. I'm so happy for you."

"So, what's the plan?" Jaden asked with a giggle. "Well, I was thinking we could take this," I said, reaching into my bag to pull out a camera bag and some swim trunks that I waited until I finished speaking to show Jaden, "to the beach. Does that sound alright to you?" I asked with a smirk. "That sounds amazing," he sighed with excitement. "I haven't gone to the beach in years!"

"Oh, this is so nice!" Jay gasped with adorable excitement as he looked at the gorgeous (and shockingly fairly unpopulated for a hot, almost-summer day) spread of beach. I, however, could only look at him. Oh, he's so sweet. I love him. He's just the cutest thing in the world.

Giving Jaden my camera, I watched him run around to take photo after photo after photo. Maybe I should have brought along an extra memory card with me. Seeing as he was off to his own devices, I went back to the car to change into a set of swim trunks - partially to give him the surprise.

"Got any good ones?" I asked Jaden after sneaking up behind him. He yelped in surprise and turned around quickly to find out who it was, hugging him. "You scared me," he complained, cuddling up to me. "Sorry, babe," I chuckled, kissing his temple. "Hey, you changed!" He remarked, staring me down. An unmistakable glint came to his eye as he came a little closer to me. "Damn," he sighed, biting his lip in such a sexy way. Oh, I just wanted to make out with him then and there. But, unfortunately, I couldn't. He would never let me, not in public. Not with all the homophobia we know.
