XXX. The other Jess

It was perfect. Everything was. The lights were blinking as the beat of the music disturbs the night of all the sleeping neighbors five blocks from Angel’s house.

It was her birthday and her parents’ wedding anniversary. Two in one celebration.

I set up rose petals in the park nearby. There was this dinner table with gourmet dishes set by candle lit fire. I secured the ring in my pocket. I waited for her there while she asked her permission to leave the party for a while. For me.

She came. She still looked effortlessly perfect.

Angel: Jess.

Jess’: Angel… You look perfect.

Angel: I always do to you.

We ate. We talked about everything we have gone through. As if they were like yesterday. Since that day Jess pushed me out of her door, Angel welcomed me into hers. We got back together. We were happy, so much happier than we were before. I never thought we would reach this far. I sent Jess my regards for the best. I thanked her. I owe her everything I have now.

Jess’: Angel.

Angel: Yes.

I stood up, walked near her. Then, got down on my knees.

Angel: Oh, Jess.

The fire works just started. Damn you, Reinan. You were too advanced! I haven’t proposed yet!

She smiled. She was crying.

Jess’: Reinan missed the timing. Uh, will you marry me?
