XXI. The other Jess
Jess: You’re drunk?
Jess’: Yeah. Got any tea? I’ll go after 30 minutes.
Dad: You know what, you could stay here. There are vacant rooms. I’ll get some extra clothes and towels.
Jess’: Oh, you didn’t have to. I’m okay.
Jess: No. Stay! I mean, just for tonight.
Jess’: Okay. Thanks.
We just arrived at Jess’ house. I got so drunk from the party; I can’t even keep my feet from wobbling. I got up and washed in the guest room. When I got out, I saw Jess holding some clothes and towel.
Jess’: GOD! I’m naked!
She stared for some seconds and then she turned back at once. Her face was burning red.
Jess: Sorry. I… YOU COULD HAVE LOCKED YOU KNOW!
Jess’: Just hand me that.
I put on some clothes. She left when she saw me unnaked.
I tried to close my eyes. Flashbacks haunted me. I saw Angel, holding Crayton’s hand. She was happy. Contented. Then I saw her look when her phone rang and I was kissing Jess.
Jess… Her lips…
Jess: God, no!
I pulled myself up from my bed, like I was drowning. I can’t think of her… I got out of the room.
After a whole, I heard a door knob open.
Jess: Can’t sleep?
Jess’: Yeah. You too?
She nodded.
Jess: Want wine?
Jess’: I could get drunk.
We couldn’t decide what wine to open. Her father was is quite a collector. She grabbed the red one. We went up to her room, sat on the floor and started drinking.
Jess: Quite some night huh?
Jess’: Yeah. Thanks to you.
Jess: What did she say when you left?
Jess’: We two look perfect for each other…
“I’m happy for you. Goodbye, I guess” her exact words.
Jess: BINGO. We got her bad.
Jess’: You think so.
Jess: I know. We’re close to winning your girl back.
Jess’: Really? I… Hope not…
Jess: What?
Jess’: I mean, I hope you’re not wrong.
