VI. Skyler
Skylar: What is with that scary frown face, Gel?
Angel: SKY! I’m freaking out. The finals are just one week away. I have a weak dance routine. I got no partner. I am buried with lesson plans and my student who normally helps me out with paper work graduated.
Normally, Gelo’s bubbly and funny. I’ve never seen her so stressed out.
Skylar: I got a friend who could dance. Well, not an expert bit he’s the president of our HS dance troup so he’s okay.
Her face lightened up.
Skylar: I could call him you know. He still owes me something.
Angel: Could you do that?
Skylar: You don’t believe in my greatness? Yeah, I will. Wait. I’ll do it now.
It rang. Good. That means he’s not in the operating room… Then, it answered. I mean he. I pressed speaker on.
Jess’: Uhh, hello. Who’s this?
Skylar: Look at your phone, stupidhead.
Jess’: Oh? Hahaha. Sorry… Hey, I’m not stupidhead! Ohhh, sky! It’s you. What misfortunes bring you today?
Skylar: Shut up. You available at 4?
Jess’: Yeah. I got no clinic today. Why?
Skylar: Are you available for the whole week every 4?
Now, the whole faculty is listening to the speaker-phone call.
Jess’: I could be if I wanted to. But if it’s for your shananigans, I decline.
He giggled. Yes, we’re friends. He’s been a part of our group in HS. We’re like brothers and sisters.
Skylar: Not me, stupidhead. My friend. You talk to him, okay? And she’s a girl so don’t be mean.
Jess’: I’m not mea—
I pushed the cellphone towards Gelo. She freaked out but managed to say something.
Angel: Hello?
Jess’: Oh, you. Who’s this?
Angel: I’m Angel Lane. Uh, I’m a PE teacher. I’m kind of in need of… A dance partner.
Jess’: HAHAHAHAHA. Oh. Me? She put you on this. I’m sorry. Sky’s fooling around.
Angel: No.. No, I need you.
Wow, Gel’s desperate.
Angel: Well, my finals for my masterals is coming up. I can’t find anyone else. Please, anything?
Jess’: Hm. Well, you found me. Haha. Ok. I’ll just adjust my sched. And we’ll start now?
Angel: If it’s okay with you? Here, in school, at 4.
Jess’: Sure. Get my number and I’ll just text you when I get there.
Angel: THANK YOU. I owe you so much.
Jess’: No problem. Bye.
Gel’s face lightened up. Then she hugged me. Tightly.
Angel: I LOOOOOOOVE YOUUUUU SKYYY!
And yes, she screamed for the entire faculty to hear. They laughed with us.
