Josie and the others arrived just on time as Cheryl said they would, all greeting Cheryl with warm hugs, they all bobbed their head to Veronica the brunette giving them a small smile. She knew The Pussycats were basically famous and for some reason that was intimidating but Cheryl's little smile over at her made the nerves wash away; Cheryl made them all a quick drink before leaving Veronica with the girls as she went up to check up on her grandmother. Veronica had asked if she'd need any help with her but Cheryl had told her she didn't and so she was left to sit in a room three girls she scarcely knew. Veronica sat on the far end couch, it was more of a loveseat rather than a full couch, it was a stormy grey which went with the grey theme in the living, others would find it a little creepy but Veronica felt like it was a very Blossom style.
"So you're new around here?" Josie spoke up, pulling Veronica from her admiration of the living room and looking to Josie who sat opposite her. Veronica gave a nod, fiddling with her hands in her lap.
"Yeah, I uh, moved here with my mother, she used to live here when she was young." Veronica told them, there was no point in being blunt, she wanted to be these girls friends seem as they were Cheryl's.
"Right, Hermione Lodge. My mother mentioned her," Josie muttered, Veronica could only guess what the mayor had said about her mother, but she didn't try to defend her family, it never ended well when she did. "Have you heard some of our music?"
Veronica smile lifted, giving a happy nod. "I have, it's played a lot around here. It's incredible!" That made Josie and the girls smile, "Will you be preforming soon?"
"At the schools game next week, I assume you'll be there?" Josie continued, Veronica thought back to when her and Cheryl were talking about the performance, she'd have to be there anyway seem as she was on the cheerleading squad.
"I'll be cheerleading beside Cheryl that night, so of course." Just as she said her name, Cheryl wandered back in the room, shooting Veronica a smile as she took a seat beside her. Veronica had noticed that Cheryl had changed into her pyjamas already, a silk dress with a loose dressing gown to go over her shoulders and Veronica felt her mouth go dry. The redhead had sat close to her too, Veronica shifted nervously her breath quickened and she hoped Cheryl hadn't noticed.
"Oh yeah, Veronica's doing great; you'll see her when you perform. She's almost as talented as me." Cheryl grinned proudly, the other girls seemed to lighten up now in Cheryl's presence, all of them moving to get comfortable and Val leaned forward to pick up the selection of movies Cheryl had piled up. Josie's eyes were flickering between the brunette and redhead though, she wasn't oblivious to how cheery Cheryl was, last time she was here to visit Cheryl had been crying and wishing she could join her brother. But now she was glowing and Cheryl's constant shy glances at the brunette beside her told Josie why.
Veronica blushed at Cheryl's compliment, she was hardly that good. To her Cheryl was the master of cheerleading, she moved with such elegance and ease that it always left Veronica mesmerised.
"Enough talk of performing, what film will we be watching?" Val piped in, setting the films down to spread them on the table in show. All of the girls peered over Val's shoulder to scan the selection of movies.
"You guys decide, I'll go get the snacks ready." Cheryl chimed in, getting to her feet again but Veronica was in toe this time, Cheryl looking at her with an eyebrow raised.
"I'll help, you can't carry it all on your own," Veronica shrugged, Cheryl didn't bother arguing, she'd be glad to spend even a minute with Veronica. "Besides I need to change into my pyjamas, I brought my best set."
Cheryl smirked as the pair headed out of the room together, "Your best?"
Veronica blushed, her pyjamas were nothing compared to what Cheryl had on but she brought her own silk dress, she gathered that was the kind of fancy pyjamas Cheryl would wear and she was right. "It's red and black with a little lace...my mum hates me wearing it but I think it's cute and comfortable."
Cheryl pictured it and she felt heat rush up her body, her eyes darting from Veronica's to everywhere else as they made their way to the kitchen. "Well maybe your mother just doesn't have taste." Veronica smiled at that, she always moaned to her mother about her clothes, she may dress better than any of the other mums but her style was still...off. "I've got all the bites set up on the counter, we can order pizza later and the beverages are all in the fridge, we might need to come back in to get the rest, there's a lot."
Veronica nodded to show she was listening as they came into the kitchen, snacks set on the counter and a bag of popcorn or three waiting to be heated up on the side. Cheryl glanced over her shoulder at the small brunette following behind her as they made their way to collect the food.
"So what do you think of Josie and the girls?"
Veronica looked up at her, a friendly smile on her face, "I like them." She hadn't meant to sound vague so she quickly added. "They seem fond of you, so I like them."
Cheryl smiled softly at Veronica, she was being genuine and it only made Cheryl's heart flutter. She'd caught herself by surprise when she felt so fondly of Veronica, she'd been expecting to hate the girl, it was obvious that she'd be popular and the fact that she chose Betty Cooper as her friend made Cheryl certain she'd be enemies with the girl. Yet she was her heart racing just by the gaze of the brunette, but she was glad she didn't hate Veronica, if she did it would just continue to make her miserable but being around Veronica made her happy, it made her feel as though she wasn't alone or trapped in this hellhole of a town with awful people. She was grateful for the brunette as Veronica was grateful for her.
