From that moment on, it seemed Cheryl and Veronica had become a thing, Cheryl would creep up behind her during the day as she was talking to Betty or Archie and she'd randomly kiss her earlobe scaring the girl half to death but enjoying the feeling. Cheryl always found the way that Veronica would react intriguing, it made her bite her lip and that was why she did it often, always placing little kisses on her neck when she was hugging her from behind, or when they were sat down, she'd reach of Veronica's hand and take a hold of it, giving her hand a light squeeze. Cheryl had told Veronica that if she wanted her to stop with all of the PDA she would, she never wanted to make Veronica uncomfortable, she just enjoyed showing people that Veronica was her girlfriend. Cheryl never really took notice of how jealous she could be until she saw Betty and Veronica having a heart to heart moment, she knew they had many but this time they were closer than usual and Betty seemed to be leaning towards Veronica and that just raised the green eyed monster in Cheryl.
She could remember striding in the home room with her signature smile, walking over with such grace and dropping on the seat beside Veronica, encircling her arm around her girlfriend and lightly tugging her into her side. She wasn't blind, she could see immediately she'd made Betty uncomfortable the blonde shuffling back in her seat, Veronica had greeted her with a pearly smile and a soft kiss that Cheryl had gladly leaned into. The redhead was always her happiest when she was with her brunette, she made her feel warm inside and having the brunette close only made her heart soar even more.
The pair were sat at the lunch table now, hand in hand under the table, Veronica's thumb trailing Cheryl's skin making it tingle. She adored it when Veronica did that, it was a soft and loving move. Cheryl had gotten used to sitting with Jughead and the others, she'd had to because Veronica had refused to sit with what the brunette had called her little minions followers, which Cheryl pondered on whether that was simply Veronica's jealousy, either way she decided to sit with Veronica rather than be separate from her.
"How are Polly and the twins? Is your mum treating them well?" Cheryl asked Betty who'd sat across from them, eating a watermelon from her fruit pot, eyes flickering up to Cheryl's muddy brown eyes. She still wasn't used to having Cheryl sat with them, always uneasy on what she says because she knows how judging Cheryl can be. Betty shrugged.
"They're doing pretty well, Polly adores them even when they're screaming and keeping us all awake, she thinks they're the best thing that has ever happened to her." Betty told the redhead, finishing off her fruit. "My mom likes having the babies around, I'm surprised you haven't came to visit them yet."
Cheryl glanced down at the tray of food in front of her, "I think it's probably best these kids stay away from the Blossom's, you've seen how twisted my family is."
That made Betty feel a little guilty, Veronica could see it on the blondes face but she didn't argue otherwise, the Blossom's were messed up and Betty didn't want the twins to become that way. She liked how sweet and innocent they were now. Veronica gave Cheryl's hand a squeeze knowing how the redhead felt about her family, she was ashamed and it had taken people a long time to forget what had happened, to move onto the next drama. Veronica had been there for the redhead through the whole thing though, making sure she knew she was loved dearly. Josie and the others girls made sure Cheryl knew they were there for her if she needed them even though half the time they weren't in school.
"Well, they don't know anything about you're family yet. Maybe you could just go and visit them, they have your gorgeous red hair, you should see it, they're beautiful Cheryl, you'd adore them." Veronica saw no harm in her girlfriend simply visiting the children, they were only a few months old and visiting them wouldn't do any harm. They should know who their aunt is. "I'll come with you if you like?"
Cheryl gave Veronica a warm smile, leaning forward and placing a lingering kiss on Veronica's cheek. "Alright, only because I'm eager to see them...Jason would've wanted me to."
"I'll text Polly and see if you can see them after school, you can just walk home with me and Archie if so." Betty muttered as she pulled out her phone, eyes falling onto the keyboard as she sent a quick message to her sister, receiving a message a few minutes later. "She said she and the twins will be in."
"Then I'll just drive us all to your place, sorry Jughead, you'll have to walk...there's no point in me dropping you off then having to turn around and drive all the way to Betty's." Cheryl shrugged, she wasn't a fan of Jughead and surprisingly she liked Jughead the least out of Veronica's little group of friends. Jughead cringed at her words.
"Listen Cheryl, no offence but I'd rather walk then step into your rosy smelling car."
Cheryl shot him a glare but didn't bother shooting a comeback, she didn't have the energy and Veronica had led her head on her shoulder and she didn't want to do anything to cause the brunette to lift her head. If the others weren't around she'd be smiling softly down at Veronica looking more in love than anything in the world.
But she preferred to seem callous when other people are around, although she completely melted when it was just her and Veronica.
"Will you finally come around mine for dinner afterwards?" Cheryl heard Veronica say as she gazed down at their intertwined hands. Cheryl had been avoiding going to Veronica's, she knew what her family did to the Lodge's, they'd framed her father and put him in prison and their family just didn't get along in general. Veronica seemed to have sensed her hesitation and sighed. "You aren't like them, Cheryl. I've told my mom and dad that and if they don't approve then screw them, we'll just go and get a take out and eat it happily together on a park bench before we head back to yours."
Cheryl smiled, she liked the sound of that. She liked any time where she got to spend it with Veronica. "Fine, but you'd better inform your parents, I don't want them getting a surprise when I walk through that door. They might send me straight out."
Veronica lifted her head from Cheryl's shoulder to look at her, a bright smile on her face at finally winning the redhead over, giving her a nod before moving a hand around the back of Cheryl's neck to pull her into a happy kiss, wanting to show Cheryl how happy she was that the woman had finally agreed to come and meet her parents.
"Ew, okay could you not do that whilst we're eating?" Jughead grumbled, in his usual bland tone. Cheryl stayed kissing her girlfriend for a couple seconds longer before separating to keep the others happy. Veronica giggled when she looked at the redheads lips, lifting a thumb to wipe the deep purple lipstick that had smudged on Cheryl's bright red lipstick. The redhead blushing picturing what her lips looked like now that her lipstick was mixed with Veronica's. "Thanks." Jughead muttered, glad they'd stopped.
