"Hey ladies, do you want to play a little game?" Melody called over to them, the pair retracting their hands as fast as they could and shifting so that their bodies were no longer facing on another and now back to the girls, shooting little side glances at one another whilst Cheryl cleared her throat.
"What, uh, what type of game?" Cheryl knew Melody, she got bored of movies not matter how hot the lead was and usually she'd want them to stop watching and just gossip about the latest thing, but this time her eyes fleeted to Josie and Val who shared mischievous smiles. Veronica felt her stomach drop, she hadn't missed the looks and these party games never really ended well for her, flashback to how the game ended when she was last at Cheryl's party; Betty had ended up in tears.
"Truth or dare, just a simple game. Nothing major." Josie shrugged, Cheryl didn't seem to care about the game, Veronica guessed it was because she was used to it. She did after all usually end up being the one to indicate that they play a game of some sorts. Cheryl looked to Veronica, Veronica turning her head to her when she felt her look at her.
"You up for that?"
Veronica didn't want to be that loser who pulled out of it just because she didn't like it, she wanted to make a good impression on Josie and the others and chickening out would only make them think she was a coward so she nodded, agreeing to the game and Cheryl's face lit up.
"Good then, we're in!" Cheryl beamed to the other girls who all high fived one another before they shuffled off of the couch and onto the floor, Cheryl and Veronica doing the same, scooting closer to the girls, forming a strange semi-circle like shape. "Whose going to go first?"
Almost as soon as the words left Cheryl's mouth, Josie jumped in excitement in her tone as she yelled a little, "Me!" Veronica was seated beside the singer, looking at her anxiously, she knew she'd be picked to do something at some point that she didn't exactly want to do. Josie peered around Val to look at Melody with a grin. "Melody, truth or dare?"
Veronica watched the girl think for a second, she must know how Josie liked to play these games because she settled for truth and by the look on Josie's face, that was the exact thing she wanted.
"Did you or did you not lie when you said you didn't sleep with that guy we were touring with?"
Just the mere question made Melody's face light up in embarrassment, Veronica could see the answer on Melody's face. So this was how they forced gossip in the group, they made them play truth or dare to spill their secrets, it was a pretty good plan really. Val gasped when she saw Melody's cheeks burn, joy crossing over her face.
"I knew it! I was wondering why he was so happy yesterday!" Val squealed, giggling only making Melody blush more, Josie just smirked, Veronica gathered she already knew the truth. "Your turn."
Melody's eyes skipped around the semi-circle in decision, her eyes landing on Veronica for a split second but then moving to Cheryl a smile coming across her face. Veronica looked to Cheryl who looked pretty confident like always, posture perfect and waiting for her question. "Cheryl--"
"Dare." She answered before Melody could finish, the brunette thought for moment, trying to come up with something, then grinning as she found one.
"I dare you to call up Reggie and tell him you'll be up for a threesome if he wants one."
It wasn't even Veronica's dare but she felt nervous for Cheryl, she knew if she got something like that she'd probably forfeit out of it. Most likely because she'd only just moved to that school and people thinking she was up for threesomes probably wouldn't be the best start to making friends. But Cheryl simply picked up her phone, the three seated girls rushing to make sure that Cheryl didn't just fake call him, she scrolled until she found his name and she called. Smirking in Veronica's direction as she saw that Veronica was shocked she'd agreed to do it. It was quiet for a moment then a mumble from the phone.
"Yeah, hey Reg, sorry for calling so late I just wanted to ask you something..."
It went quiet once more Cheryl just hummed once then spoke once more, "I've been thinking lately, there's something I haven't done yet and I really want to do it...well, it's a little...I just wanted to know if you'd like to participate in it...what is it? Oh, a threesome."
Cheryl had said it so casually that Josie and the girls had burst out laughing, Cheryl having to stifle her laugh to continue, there'd been no noise from the phone so the girls had just gathered he was lost for words. Honestly, Veronica would be if Cheryl had just asked her to join her in something like that. Cheryl waited another moment for a reply before speaking.
"Reggie?"
Still no response and Cheryl sighed. "It was a joke, just a dare, sleep well bye." Then she hung up the phone just like that, Veronica giggled imagining Reggie's disappointment when Cheryl told him it was a dare. She guessed he wouldn't be pleased, the girls dispersed back to their seats, congratulating Cheryl on actually doing it with ease then awaited for Cheryl to choose someone. Veronica was sat beside her, waiting too, wondering who it could be. Cheryl seemed to be communicating through her eyes with Josie, the pair discussing something with their minds and Cheryl seemed to have lost and her eyes fell on Veronica's the brunette quickly looking at her lap. "Veronica, truth or dare?"
Veronica thought about it, Cheryl knew most things about her already, her rough family drama was plastered over every newspaper anywhere so that was nothing to tell now, she'd told her about her sexuality and how she'd had a girlfriend back in New York at some point. So she chose dare.
"Dare." Veronica looked to Cheryl as she gave her answer and something dazzled in her eyes, joy from what Veronica could tell. Cheryl's eyes flickered to Josie's once more before going back to Veronica's. She'd noticed how Cheryl's breathing had quickened slightly, the redhead twiddling her fingers in her lap before she gave Veronica her dare. Praying to every god there was that this didn't go wrong and screw her over.
"Kiss me."
