They all stop, smiles etching, but a shrill, high-pitched scream interrupts them.
The crew members crowd, all speaking quite loudly. Reepicheep stands upon a moving mass, who squirms upon the, now wet, wood of the the deck. "Now calm down, sir." A scoff is heard, the mass shouting, "Get that thing off me!" Edmund and Lucy stand, mildly embarrassed, as Caspian and Aubrianna stare, brows raised, at the sight before them.
The mass that is Reepicheep is thrown, landing at the feet of a Minotaur, inches from the group. "Reepicheep!" He turns to the voice who called his name, and upon seeing the High Queen, he mouth drops. He messes with the belt that crosses his body, his sword at his waist.
"Oh! Your majesties." He is quick to bow, always a stickler for manners, seeing as he was a knight. It is Edmund's turn to speak, smiling politely at the mouse. "Hello, Reep. What a pleasure." Said mouse adjusts the red feather sitting atop his head.
"The pleasure is all mine, sir. But first, what to do about this hysterical interloper?" The interloper in question squirms behind the mouse, letting out loud huffs as he struggles to stand on the deck. Once he manages to gain some control, he shouts, glaring at Reepicheep.
"That giant rat, thing, just tried to claw my face off!" The mouse mentioned, gapes at the boy. "I was merely trying yo expel the water from your lungs, sir." Eustace, who is now standing, points to the knight, alarmed.
"It talked! Did you see? Did anyone just hear that? It just talked!" The men on deck stand confused as one says, "He always talks." The king then quips, "Actually, it's getting him to shut up that's the trick." Aubrianna gives a breathful laugh, grinning at her brother, as the men around them laugh as well. Reepicheep then turns to the pair.
"The moment there is nothing to be said, your highnesses, I promise you, I will not say it." They both glance down cheerily at the knight, just as Eustace erupts once again. "I don't know what kind of prank this is, but I want to wake up right now!" The people around him eerily slide back, as he yells at the lot of them.
"Perhaps we could throw him back?" Reepicheep glances up at the High King, as Lucy does the same, and upon hearing no initial object, she gapes, elbowing him. "Edmund!" The frantic boy then look as if he has burst into tears as he storms to the other side of the deck.
"I demand to know, just where in the blazes am I?" A minotaur stands next the group of men who surround the boy. "You're on The Dawn Treader, the finest ship in Narnia's navy."
Eustace faints. The crew erupts in laughter as Aubrianna, who stalks behind the High King and Queen, who follow Caspian, bites her lip as she tries not to laugh. Her brother approaches the group, giving the minotaur a slight grin. "Was it something I said?" He blinks, as Caspian nods to Eustace's collapsed frame. "See to him, will you?" The creature nods, "Your majesty."
Caspian turns back, stalking toward the two siblings, as he wraps one arm around each of them. He leaves the two standing, as he joins his sister who stands on the nearby steps.
"Men, behold our castaways. Edmund the Just-" Aubrianna then decides to take over. "And Lucy the Valiant. High King and Queen of Narnia. At this, the Narnia's bow, spare Caspian and Aurbianna. Even the Captain, who stands on a small ledge.
Mildly long chapter, but I wanted to wrap up this scene :) Stay tuned for more..
