Aubrey had fallen asleep on the bow of the ship with Reepicheep singing an old tune he had sung to the princess once, a long time ago. She and the knight would often find themselves in the secluded nook so, at their last stop, the girl had bought a few lounging accessories to throw over top the few crates stored there. It seemed to be the only place she found her self able to sleep, although only when the mouse was there.
"Where the sky and water meet, where the waves grow ever sweet. Doubt not, you Reepicheep to find all that you seek. There is the utter east, doubt not-" He had not heard the silent footsteps of the high queen approaching, and let out a yelp as she exclaimed "That's pretty". He stalked up the nose of the dragon, closer to the young girl. "Oh! Thank you. A dryad sung it to me when I was just a mouseling, and I began to sing it around the queen after you left." He smiled over at the older, sleeping girl. The knight knows more than her own brother does of her unusual sleeping pattern.
"I can't divine the meaning, but I've never forgotten the words." Lucy tilts her head in wonder, briefly glancing at her older friend. "What do you think is past the Lone Islands, Reep?" The mouse in question gives a hearty breathe out, thinking for just a moment. "Well I've been told the furthest east one can sail is to the end of the world-" "Aslan's country." The two tear their heads toward the new voice, finding the queen brushing sleep from her deep chocolate eyes.
Lucy then glances between the two, "Do you really believe there's such a place?"
Aubrianna yawned out, as Reepicheep answered. "Well, we have nothing, if not belief." The smile suddenly slips from the high queens face, replaced by a frown. "Do you think you could actually sail there?" The, Telmarine- converted Narnian, queen watching them knew all about the knight's dream to join the greatest to ever live amongst Aslan's country.
"Well, there is only one way of finding that out- I can only hope I will one day earn the right to see it." He smiles, letting out a chuckle at the young girl. "Your Majesty." With that, he scurries back down the nose of the dragon.
As Lucy peers over the edge of the boat at the waters below, Aubrianna's only thought is of the lullaby that Reep sings, his melodic voice ringing as her eyes flutter shut once again.
So sosoooo long overdue. But I felt inspired to get myself together because it snowed. Snow in Virginia before January is kind of a miracle. Enjoy :) Anyone up for a double update? Maybe??
