Jade POV

I've always been so eager of going back to South Shields but work right now has been keeping me here in L.A.
I fixed my bag and checked my phone for a minute, it was nearly 6 in the evening and now my shift has ended.

My apartment is only a few blocks away from the clinic, and I like it that way. It gives me time to take a quick stroll in this gorgeous city whenever I'm off to work or going home.

I was passing by this French Cafe when all of a sudden I heard someone mention my name, and her voice sounded familiar.
"Oh my Gosh! Jade?" A woman's voice said and my walk suddenly came to a stop.
"Is that y- Jade!" She said again and it took me seconds to realize who that certain person was.
"Leigh-Anne?" I said too and then she squealed and went straight to me and engulfed me in a hug.
"How are you? Wow! It's been so long!" She   asked happily. Sure we weren't the closest back in high school, but it's good to have someone you were somehow friends with.
"I'm great! You?!" I asked too and soon we decided to grab dinner at the nearby cafe.

Leigh told me how she moved here in America after she got engaged to a guy she  met on vacation named Andrè. Now she works in a famous fashion magazine, no wonder she looks like a model now.

"So Jade what brought you here in L.A?" Leigh asked as she took a sip of her drink.
"Work, I moved here after college."
I replied.
"Cool, so what do you do for a living?" She asked again.
"I'm a vet, I work in a clinic not far from here." I answered as I too took a sip of my drink.
"NO WAY! you're a doctor?!" She blurted out, almost spitting the drink in her mouth.
"Yes I am." I said and nodded.
"Oh wow! That is so cool! I knew you would turn out succesful ever since I was like 13." She said.

Then the conversation went on. What I love about Leigh was that she talks too much, but in a good way though, like there was not a dull moment with her ever since we sat in this cafè. Of course we had a lot of catching up but there's this one person that I've always wanted to ask that we still haven't talked about, Perrie, until she mentioned her name.

"Oh and you know, Jes told me she saw Ally once being stopped by the police due to overspeeding when she was on her way to her and Perrie's shop." She told me.
That was my go signal.
"Perrie?" I mumbled, like I was surprised to hear her name, but the truth is, asking how Perrie is has been sitting at the tip of my tongue for hours now. I was just somehow scared talking about her would bring a lot of emotions back or worse hearing if she's married now will totally crush me, but I still want to know anyways.

"Oh yeah, Perrie! I almost forgot you dated my bestfriend back then, I'm really sorry about what happened to you guys, I mean, I rooted for you." Leigh confessed and I smiled at what she said.
"Don't worry that was a long time ago, we were kids." I simply answered.
"Yeah, we all were." She said.
I cleared my throat and build up the courage to ask her how her bestfriend is.
"So how is she, uhhhm..Perrie?" I questioned. Leigh paused for a moment before answering.

"Oh! she's married now!"

Perrie POV

"So how do I look Hatchi?" I asked my dog after I got myself ready for work. He barked and wagged his tail.
"So I guess, I look good then." I said then picked up my car keys on the shelf and headed off downstairs.
"See you at lunchtime!" I said before closing the door.

I went straight into the accounting department of the flower shop and immediately asked my assistant.
"So Bridgette, what's for today?" I questioned while I checked our sales on the papers.
"Uhmm, we've already sent out the orders for Mr. Jones' opening ceremony this morning and we'll be delivering another batch this afternoon to Western Blues for their annual party." Came the reply.
"Great!" I said.
"Oh and we got a call from another client, he said he wanted to come see the flowers for his wedding in two months."
"Did you get the details?" I asked, while still reading the financial statement in my hands.
"Yeah it's all in here, he said he'll be coming next week with his fiancee." My  assistant told me.
"Okay, that's good to hear, anyways I'm gonna be going to the camp site and Jesy should have been here by now, where is that girl?" I said while I took a glance at my watch. Then I added, "just call me once she's here, okay?." She nodded And then I was off.

I rode my car off to the site and then the whole view on the way brought a lot of memories back on our first official date.
Sure thing the car ride was longer back then but due to road improvements, travel time was cut in half so it provided easy access for customers now.

Then I thought about Jade, the main reason why I've been putting up savings during my first job was because I was planning on going to America, to go after her.
I never cared about my future before well mainly because she was my future I mean could have been my future.
What changed my mind was when my bestfriend Jes found out about it she told me I should think well before spending all my money.

College was way over at that time and I went to her house, simply because I wanted to go talk to her mom and ask her about Jade's address abroad . Then I found out that their house was empty, the caretaker told me Norma's been living in Middle East for a couple of years now because she doesn't like living alone and that she didn't know where Jade lives in California.

I tried going through Jade's social media accounts, only to find that its long been shut down, she also changed her phone number. I lost all hope after that.
Jesy knew everything about it, after all she was the only friend I have here now that Leigh's been travelling to different countries.
I cried most nights after learning about it. I was willing to spend all my money for her, to find her in America. Then Jesy talked to me.

"Pez, think about this. What if Jade's forgotten about you? Or has moved on or is married already? I don't mean to be harsh, but you're my bestfriend and it hurts me seeing you like this. I know the truth sucks but I need to be honest with you now. Jade was the one who ended the relationship, if she wants you back, she could have done that years ago, not like this. No contacts, no address, nothing! Pez, she doesn't want to be found. She's busy with her future but it's still up for you to decide, you know I want what's best for you and I don't want to get your hopes up. Six years is a long time, a lot of things have changed now."

What my friend told me two years ago never left my mind, she was right, things have changed, but there's one thing that hasn't.

This story turned out longer than I expected. I know, my imagination keeps this book from ending earlier..Haha😀
