Years later...

Emma sat on the comfortable seat in the office of hers and Killian's house. After they got married, they moved out of their little apartment and found a real house to live in that was close to Brennan and Ava's.

In front of her was a box that she was debating opening.

From behind her came a gentle knock on the door of the office.

Emma looked up and found Killian holding a bag with a smile.

"What's the news, Swan?" Killian asked like he did every evening when he got home.

"Not much today," Emma answered, smiling slightly at the sight of him.

"Brought you dinner, love. You wouldn't have eaten if I didn't," Killian said sweetly, setting the bag on the desk. "Grilled cheese."

"Fries?" Emma asked.

"Onion rings," he grinned, standing beside her and hugging her.

"Good, I was just testing you," Emma answered with a smile.

But her smile soon faded.

"What is it, darling? You seem vexed," Killian noted, curling a stray strand of hair behind her.

"That's putting it lightly," Emma mumbled.

"Perhaps you could use... a kiss?" Killian said playfully.

"I'm not really in the mood for kisses," Emma admitted, twiddling with her fingers.

Killian frowned. That almost always worked.

"What's that?" he asked, pointing to the box on the floor.

Emma paused, looking over at the box before sighing, returning her gaze to Killian's.

"What's left of my childhood," Emma answered sadly.

"My I... have the honor?" Killian asked.

Emma nodded, picking up the box and setting it on the desk. She opened it, lifting out a soft white blanket.

"My baby blanket. It's all I had when my parents left me as a baby," Emma said softly.

She pulled out a smaller box and handed it to Killian.

He hesitated to open it.

"You okay?" he asked.

"I... think so," Emma answered hesitantly.

He flipped open the lid to reveal Emma's old black-rimmed glasses that had been long since replaced with contacts.

Killian grinned when he saw them, remembering Emma's expressions as she worked for her maths tests during their study dates with her adorable glasses on.

Emma smiled faintly.

Killian continued to go through the box until he came across a photo of Emma and a boy.
