Chapter 22

The Christmas break for Bea seemed to pass by so quickly, spending time with James and Sirius seemed to come and go for her with the amount of fun they all had. Every day was a new adventure and even though Sirius was a bit pissed about Bea and James' date, they were still able to have fun nonetheless. It was rather lovely for Bea to spend time with James alone, walking through the small town near his home with her hand in his as he pulled her along, smiles wide on both of their faces and their happiness evident.

Christmas day was one of the best Bea had ever had, it seemed as though she was extra emotional to find out she had presents when she didn't even think she would have. She rarely got presents when she went home unless it was a small thing from Remus and her mother and then Violet's present when she got back to the castle but when she woke up on Christmas morning it seemed as though James had gone out of his way in order to spoil her as best as he could.

His parents had gotten her some lovely presents too and she couldn't stop thanking them for their generosity, trying to stop herself from crying so much whilst Sirius laughed at her, whilst hugging her in the process. They had gotten her some lovely dresses for her to wear as well as a bracelet and some sweets that she loved.

She was sure that was from Euphemia and Fleamont as well as James but James had something else for her. She watched as Sirius opened presents that the Potters got him too and waited excitedly as he opened the present she had gotten him.

She had saved up as much money as possible over the summer in order to get a present for Remus as well as Violet, and even though she did get them something, she managed to have quite a bit left over.

She had gotten him a leather jacket they had seen on one of their days out that he couldn't afford himself. She had to practically pry the jacket off of him as they exited the shop, trying to explain to him that just taking it was illegal and she would rather not go to jail.

But on a walk, she hadn't planned, she navigated her way back to the shop and bought it for him. It was rather hard to get the boy to stop thanking her, and she was sure she could see a tear in his eye as he hugged her. Of course, James was trying to get to her just as much, reaching for her hand as he glared at Sirius who didn't care in the slightest.

James had pulled out a box he had been fiddling nervously with as his parents cleaned up some of the mess around their living room, deciding to leave the three teenagers alone to open the rest of their presents and still getting thanked by Bea as they laughed.

"You know what," Sirius spoke when he eyed the box in James hand on the cold morning, "I'm going to try on my new jacket," he grinned, pressing a sloppy kiss to Bea's cheek and hurrying up the stairs to James' room, and leaving the two alone.

"I wanted to get you something you'd like," James whispered, a small smile wide on his lips whilst Bea shuffled closer to him, attempting to speak before he clasped his hand over her mouth, "and I know you don't care much about presents, of course you're grateful but I wanted to get you something that'll be there when I'm not, I suppose. To show that regardless of what Remus thinks, if I'm not with you, if you're at your home with your dad and you just feel horrible then you can think of me and think of the happiness we have together."

She couldn't keep the smile off her face, slowly moving his hand away from her mouth in order to push herself forward and kiss him, whispering about how amazing he was whilst he laughed nervously.

He opened the box to reveal a necklace, and for a second he wasn't sure if the gasp that left her lips was a good or bad sign. Though her eyes glazed with tears again, wide eyed staring at him in shock and now it was her hand that covered her mouth, staring down at the necklace that must've been so expensive and the thought was messing with her head.
