You nervously walk on platform 9 3/4 with your bag and trunk, a little black and brown female owl, named Izzy, you got in Diagon Alley, and your robes already on. This is your first year at Hogwarts. Your parents are both muggles, so it was a bit of a shock for them when they found out that you, the only child they had, were a witch, but they supported you in everything. They loved you with all their hearts, and they were the best parents you could ever imagine having.
Just before you put your trunk on the train, you hear a loud whistle. The train is about to leave.
"I'm sure things will be great at your new school. Have fun, Blanche", your mom says as she gives you a hug. As you pull back, you can see that she's struggling to keep herself from crying.
"Don't forget to write us, alright ?", your father says once you've pulled back from hugging your mom.
"I will", you say, before giving him a hug as well.
"Now get on your train. We don't want you to miss it."

You give your parents one last smile. You see that your mom has finally let herself cry. You're not crying. Even though you're going to miss your parents a lot, you are very excited to go to Hogwarts.
You wave at them before getting on the train.
As you're on the train, you try to find a quiet and empty compartment, but most of them are already full. The train has started moving before you could even find a compartment to sit in. You sigh as you walk towards the last compartment.
"Guess I'll have to sit in this one", you whisper to yourself before walking in. A blond, almost white-haired guy stares up at you. He's sitting alone in the compartment.
"Can - can I sit here ?" You ask quietly. The boy doesn't say a word.
"I take that as a yes", you say, before sitting down opposite of him.
"I never said you could sit in this compartment with me !" The boy snaps at you. You immediately stand up, intimidated by the sudden change of his behavior.
"I - I'm sorry", you say, as you want to leave the compartment, but the boy stands up and stops you.
"What's your name anyways ?"
You look him up and down before answering him.
"That's none of your business."
He now places his hand on your shoulder and roughly turns you around.
"I am Draco Malfoy ! And I -"
"Well, good for you", you interrupt him, and then leave the compartment. You leave the oh-so-amazing Draco Malfoy speechless, and try to find another compartment to sit in.

"Hey, you", you suddenly hear. You turn your head around and look into one of the compartments. A girl with a slightly reddish hair color smiles at you. You step into the compartment and give her a warm smile back.
"Hey. Can I maybe sit down here ?" You ask while biting your lip. The girl nods her head.
"Of course you can."
You sit down and let out a sigh of relief. You immediately feel comfortable.
"I'm Blanche Lightwood", you introduce yourself.
"I'm Susan Bones, and this is Ernest Macmillan, but we all call him Ernie", the girl says, also introducing the boy that was sitting opposite of her.
"Nice to meet you two", you say. Susan nods and smiles, and so does Ernie.
"We heard some arguing going on in the back of the train just now", Susan says, changing the subject.
"Yeah - that was probably me, sorry."
"Why were you arguing ? And with whom ?"
"Well, I was trying to find a compartment, so I wanted to sit down in a compartment next to a blond-haired boy, I believe his name was Draco Malfoy, but he -" you try to explain yourself, but Ernie interrupts you.
"Oh dear, there you have it already."
"There you have what already ?"
"Draco Malfoy. He's so annoying. Always thinks he's better than everyone."
"Yeah, I bet he's going to be in Slytherin", Susan says.
"Slytherin ?" You ask, not knowing what they're talking about since you're a muggle born. Your parents never told anything about the Wizarding World because they were muggles, and they simply couldn't tell you a single thing about it. And they only found out that you're a witch when you were 11, so that was only a few months ago.
"Yes, Slytherin house", Susan looks at you.
"You are going to be sorted into your house once you arrive at Hogwarts", Ernie adds.
"Is Slytherin a bad house ? What more houses are there ? What house do you think I'm going to be put in ?" You ask, your eyes switching between Susan and Ernie.
"Well, you definitely won't be put in Slytherin. You're way too nice for that. You could say Slytherin is the 'bad' house, yes."
"How come you don't know anything about Hogwarts ?" Susan asks with a sweet smile.
"Well, my parents aren't wizards, and I've only found out that I'm a witch a few months ago.
"So you're a muggle born."
"Excuse me ?"
"A muggle born. You have none magical parents. None magical relatives. I'm a half-blood, my mom's a witch, but my dad's a muggle", Susan explains.
"And I'm a pure-blood. My whole family consists of witches and wizards", Ernie says with a proud smile. You laugh quietly at the sight of it.
"That's really cool."
Ernie smiles.
"And there are four houses at Hogwarts you can get sorted into", Susan continues to explain. "There are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff."
"What house do you think you're going to be put into ?" You ask Susan curiously.
"I really don't have a clue", she says, then laughs. You smile at her.

Both Susan and Ernie gave you a warm welcome - something you couldn't say about Draco Malfoy - and you're really happy that they're so nice to you. You feel happy in this place, surrounded by them. The only thing you had to do was stay away from Draco; you knew he wasn't going to be a very nice person to be around. As long as you would stay with your friends, things were going to be alright.
