"I was right ! Of course I bloody was. I always am right", you hear Myrtle scream out in happiness. You roll with your eyes and watch her. She's still doodling over the fact that she's amazing and that she was right about you and Draco.
"But it has happened weeks ago, Myrtle. After Draco kissed me, he hasn't spoken a word to me", you tell her.
"He'll come around", she smirks. "I was right all along. I knew he liked you."
"Well, we're not quite sure about that, though", you hesitantly object. Yes, Draco has kissed you, but he has avoided you ever since. Perhaps he only wanted you to think that you're special and that he likes you.
"We are 100% sure, Blanche. He kissed you, remember ?"
You roll with your eyes once again and agree with her, in a way. The reason you're not talking about this with your best friend, Susan, is because you know she will get mad. She will be disappointed in you once she hears you kissed the Slytherin Prince.
"Myrtle, I'm really sorry, but I have to go now", you tell her after a short while.
"Tell me everything that'll happen between you and this Draco in the future !" She yells after you, before you leave the bathroom. You walk outside, and almost run towards the place where the last task of the Triwizard Tournament is going to take place. You are very nervous. You've never been this nervous before. The last task will be the hardest, as they always say, and you fear for your friends. But they've gone through so much already, and they will get through this as well. Both Harry and Cedric will.
"You're late, Lightwood", you hear Draco say to you once you make your way towards Ernie and Susan on the bleachers. You roll with your eyes and walk over to your friends.
"Blanche, where have you been ?" You hear Ernie whisper to you as you take your place next to them.
"They have left a while ago. They've all gone into the maze already", Susan adds.
"I'm sorry", you quickly say. You fix your eyes on the entrances of the maze, desperately waiting for one of the contestants to return with the cup, but it takes longer than you had imagined.
After a good while, which feels like hours, Harry comes back from the maze. A smile appears on your face and you start clapping and cheering, just as everyone else does.
"Something's not right", you hear Draco whisper from behind you. The moment you hear Draco say this, you take a better look at Harry, and you notice that he's not alone. A body is laying next to him on the ground. You get off the bleachers, and without you noticing that Draco follows you, you walk over to Harry, until you finally see it.
Cedric Diggory, your friend in times of need, is laying next to Harry on the ground. He's not moving. Not even an inch. His eyes are wide open, and his breathing isn't there anymore. He's dead.
You hear Fleur Delacour, one of the other contestants, scream, and that is when your heart feels as though it's being ripped out of your chest. As though your soul is trying to leave your body.
You cover your mouth with your hands, both your hands, and everything that happens in the next moments happen in a blur. You feel someone putting their arms around you, and dragging you away from the corpse, and away from the crowd. Tears stream down your face uncontrollably.
"Blanche, it's going to be alright, trust me."
The person who dragged you away from the body, is Draco Malfoy. You recognized his voice. As you look up at him, more tears escape your eyes. His arms are still around you, and he's looking at you worriedly.
"Draco - he was - Cedric was -" you try, but nothing more comes out of your mouth. And nothing more had to leave your mouth, because Draco understands you. He tries to calm you down and pulls you into a hug, and that is when you break into tears again. You close your eyes. The tears can't be stopped from falling. Your friend has died. Cedric Diggory has died.
Draco shushes you, and tries to comfort you in every way possible, but you cannot be comforted. Not after what you just saw.
"Get your hands of my bloody boyfriend, you mudblood !" Someone suddenly screams. You remove your head from Draco's chest and look up, only to see Pansy staring at you. She walks up to you, angrily, and takes out her wand. She presses it against your throat. Draco has let go of you, and you cannot feel more alone right now.
"How many times have I told you to stay away from him ? How many times, mudblood ?!"
"Pansy, get out of here", Draco then says. "Her friend has just died, shut your mouth for once."
Pansy immediately lowers her wand. The tears are still streaming down your face.
"You let a mudblood touch you, Draco ?" Pansy asks in disbelief.
"Just leave, Pansy", Draco tries again, and that is when she finally disappears. You close your eyes again and cry, covering your face with your hands.
"I'm sorry about that", Draco whispers to you. You don't reply to him.
"And I'm sorry about that Hufflepuff boy."
Still not a single word escapes your mouth. When you feel his arms around you again, you feel somewhat safe again, but the sadness cannot be taken away from you. And you can't stop thinking about the things Harry screamed when he came back from the maze. He yelled that Voldemort has returned. Only, that can't be, can it ?
