Have you ever thought about how it would be to live somewhere far away from those you love? Somewhere that you have to depend on yourself in everything you do and no one else. It's a feeling you will never know until you experience it yourself. As for me, it's how I learned to live and it's how I lived to learn.
Having to live in a world in which money mostly rules. I work at a store called Walmart which practically has almost everything you ever need or at least the one I work at does. I work 6 hours a day from Monday to Saturday. I mostly stack products on shelves or refill the fridges when needed. When I'm done I usually walk around as surveillance.
I mainly focus all my free time on studying. I try doing my best and to get high marks in all of my classes. I am an Architecture student and if not for traveling back to America I would not have gotten this opportunity. I was born in Indiana USA but my parents were from Iraq. At the age of 12 we went to Iraq and after almost eight year I returned to the USA to enroll into a college.
I was walking back from work and heard a call."Mike, how are you? Bud I need my 50 bucks, I'm all out and it would be handy" he said as he was walking towards me.
My neighbors name was Drake. He was a man in his 30's and was about 5'7" tall. We were the same height. He was rich but for some reason he didn't like taking much money with him when he went out. I guess he just likes to save it or has other plans, not that I care."Im fine Dray, and you? Thanks for reminding me, I was planning on giving them to you yesterday but you weren't home." I said as we shook hands.
"Im great, no problem, yeah I went over to my moms place, she says hi."
"Tell her its been a while and to take care of herself." I said while I walked away after giving him his money .
Drake's mom used to live with him a year ago when I first moved into my apartment. She was the closest and nicest neighbor I had and we got along well.
I walked in to my apartment and threw myself on my bed from exhaustion. A few minutes later I took off my clothes and layed down on my bed that was right in front of the air conditioner until I eventually slept.
The next day was the same as always. I woke up at 6:30 AM, got dressed, combed my hair, wore my shoes, ate a quick breakfast with a cup of hot tea and left to go to collage. My apartment wasn't far away from it so I would walk there everyday. That's one of the things I loved. Walking in the morning with the cool breeze hitting my face as I close my eyes and inhale all the fresh oxygen as if it was my last breath. The birds chirp and sing their beautiful songs as the sun shines in just the perfect angle so that it's rays give a little warm tingly feeling of relaxation. It was the perfect way to start my day.
Designing class, it was cool but also a little complicated. The whole class had troubles with it, I on the other hand loved it. When it came to designing I would always astonish the professors. I was excellent because I spend a lot of time studying and reading book about all my classes so that I could learn more and improve myself faster. Many times I tutor other class mates. They all seemed to like me. I never turn anyone down and help anyone who needs it. So I guess I was the class nerd when it came to designing. Designing class ended and while I was heading out someone poked me from behind and said "Excuse me". I turn around to see Rose.
Rose was the most popular girl in class and maybe in the whole collage because of her beauty. Even though she didn't talk to anyone nor did she have much friends, her shiny straight red hair, fit perfect body and the ravishing smile she always wore stole everyone's attention when she was in sight.
"How?"
I paused and my face was a picture of confusion.
"How do you do it, I've looked through the whole book and it has nothing about corner and angled structural decorations."
"I learned how to design it from a different book" I said while she flipped and browsed through the book in her hand."Oh, no wonder it's not in our book." She said with a sigh.
We walked to leave the class moving between desks making our way out as we chatted about the book's that would help her improve her designing. It seemed she was really determined to learn all she could from the way she talked. She would widen her eyes every time I mentioned something she didn't know and try to know everything she could about it. It seemed that we really have a lot in common. When we finished talking we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. Even though we talked for only around five minutes I couldn't stop myself from smiling. It was nice to talk to someone that has similar interests as myself.
I walked to my next classes, the University was huge and it took me around six minutes to reach any class once I leave the one before it. There was nature everywhere and all the building were designed by amazing architects. There were plenty of places to rest outside and life's scent was in the air. The smell of freshly cut grass flowed around as sprinklers fired there waters at every green. It truly helped me endure the stress.
