The employee welcomed me and showed me around. All the cars were amazing and at affordable prices. I was looking around studying the architecture of the building. Neon lights under bordered decorations, white and black decorative installations, crystal chandeliers, red carpet floor and cars parked in a beautiful fashion which made it all look absolutely fabulous. My eyes stopped to gaze as my heart skipped a beat, my mouth dropped. It was the most beautiful 2015 Dodge Charger I had ever seen AND ON SALE!
"We just put this on sale, your the first person to see it. It costs 18,750 dollars."
"I'll buy it!" I said desperately. I didn't see any other Charger as beautiful as this one when it came to paint and style. Even the inside made me want to cry. It was grey with black lines that looked like tides on the side, the roof was detachable, the hood started off black from the top side and got lighter until it became grey at the bottom and the head lights were amazing shaped rectangular with with black pointy borders that looked like eyeliner.
"I'll come for it tonight."
"Ok sir, if you would just come with me to sign a few papers and we'll be good to go."
I filled and signed the papers and left to go to the bank before work. I had a feeling that today was going to be a good day. I reached the bank and took the 13,750$ loan, took the check back to my house to hide it until I was back from work and headed off to my job.
I swept, stacked, bagged, dusted and priced. The other employees just slacked off. I did my part of the job, if they didn't do there's that was there problem. My way in life was to do the best I could at everything, which meant no excuses. I went to take a break and drink some water. The hours passed by as the earth rotated and soon the moon was visible. Walking around for the last time before leaving. I watched as little children walked and hopped by there parents.
Kids were happy and had gotten what they wanted. What I liked about my job is to see everyone smiling. People purchased what they needed, smiled and pushed there cart somewhere else, others wore faces filled with joy and excitement. Whatever was needed was available. I went to the locker room and changed my cloths. I left work in the dark breezy night. The birds were sound asleep and the nature was free. The trees danced as the air shook them back and forth in the dark, free to spread their oxygen without the interference of the toxic gas blown out of vehicles and factories. I headed over to Matthew's Cafe to get a drink and eat some of his famous pancakes. I couldn't wait, just thinking of them made my mouth drool. I entered the cafe and told the waiter my order. A few minutes later my plate was served and I dug in, but, this time it wasn't the same. It was like any other ordinary pancakes. Before the waiter Nick left I couldn't resist but to ask.
"Did Matthew make these pancakes?"
"No, Matthews in the hospital, he collapsed in the kitchen not long ago and the ambulance picked him up from here."
"Which hospital!" I insisted."The central hospital 2 miles away"
I stood up instantly, paid for the meal and left not listening or hearing anything behind me. Matthew was a good friend of mine, he was one of the nicest men I knew and I was with no doubt going to stand by his side at this hard time. I reached the hospital after 10 minutes of speed walking and when no one was around I ran.
"Hello! I'm here to ask about a Matthew, he was brought not long ago by an ambulance." I said huffing trying to catch my breath.
"Yes sir, he's currently in room 36 on the second floor."
"Thank you." I said, as I turned around to go to the stairs I saw Rose coming down crying her eyes out.
"Rose! What’s wrong, what happened to your dad, is he ok? Why are you crying?" I said as worry built up inside me. Rose crying was definitely not a good sign. She ran over to me and pushed her face on my chest as my shirt absorbed her tears.
"I can't stand it! I can't bear hearing him talk as if he was going to die!" She said while weeping. I felt her weaken and start to fall and helped her walk to a chair.
"Wait what? You need to tell me what’s going on, maybe I can help!"
"No one can! All we can do is pray that a miracle happens!"
"I’m going to go see your dad, don't worry everything will be ok. You have to stay strong!" I wiped the tears off her face.
"Stay here, I'll be back after I see your dad."
She sat there with her hands over her eyes as tears dripped down like crystals. I headed over to Matthews room weaving through doctors and nurses barging in his room opening the door wide enough to see everything inside. There was a women that looked awfully depressed sitting by his side looking at him, not even noticing anyone had come in.
"Hi, I'm Matthew's friend. What’s wrong with him, how is he!"
The women broke out of her stare and redirected her eyes upon me. She had red silk straight hair and big honey brown eyes just like Rose's. There was no doubt she was her mother and Matthew's wife.
Matthew was completely disabled and laid asleep as if he was a dead man. There was an oxygen mask strapped to his mouth because it seemed he had trouble breathing. What could have happened to him for him to be in this condition!? I broke out of my thoughts to the women's voice.
