Crim Cafe
I don't know for how long I'm out. All I know is that, I left Evan's house it was still morning and now it's already night--almost eleven pm.
I eat the last of my muffin, drink the last drop of my mochaccino before getting out of the cafe. I'm hoping that Evan is back home already. We haven't really get to talk today.
My way back to Evan's house is taking so long. Maybe I'm too far from it or I just really can't remember where it is. The lamp post are dim-lighted. There are dogs barking from the other houses I walk past. I see a girl cross the street, carrying a ragged doll in her hand. When she is about to get inside, she smiles at me and says, "Hi."
I smile back. "Hi," I say.
"You're not from here," she says.
I laughed softly. Kneeling to level her height, I say, "Yeah. Well, I'm a tourist. And my friend lives there,"--I point to Evan's house that is just a house away from hers--",and I'm staying there for a week."
"Oh, nice. A tourist. I think I've seen your friend once."
"Oh really? How do you find him?" I ask, smiling at her.
She chuckles. "Well, he's kinda cute but you know, I always see him bring home a girl."
That has to be a shot in my heart.
"Yeah? Always?" I ask, putting an emphasis to the word always.
"Well... not always, I think. Sometimes, maybe," she says with a little laugh.
"Okay." I stand up. "Maybe I'll see you agsin tomorrow. What do you say?"
She nods.
"Cool. Alright. I think your mom's waiting for you," I say, pointing to the woman standing by the doorway with a smile on her face.
I walk now but she calls me up, "What's your name, by the way? I'm Kath."
"I'm Charlie," I call out. She runs to her mom, closing the door behind them now. I shake my head, smiling.
As I step outside Evan's house, I suddenly feel something in the pit of my stomach. It's more of a girl instinct or something between the line.
I get inside, feeling all tired of the day's activity. I went to the park that was just nearby and wrote poems. After that, I walked again, which was a little further, I must say, and saw this mini museum hall. The entrance fee was not on my budget but it wasn't that expensive so I went inside. After touring for almost two hours, I was just circling around town. I'm enjoying my stay here.
I walk to the kitchen to grab some water. Gulping a glass of water, I hear some banging from one of the rooms. It must be Evan dropping something.
"Evan, are you in there?" I call out. There's no answer. With the glass still on my hand, I walk over to his room.
This just doesn't seem right, I thought.
But I go for it. I open the door and is surprise to see Evan inside...
...with a girl on the bed with him. They are both half-naked and the thing is I can't look away.
