Karime's POV

Sitting in Bio class isn't a blessing, neither is Chemistry which us next. I sketched on my notebook while the teacher went on explaining. "Ya, you're making your book dirty." Taetae grabbed the eraser next to him and wiped off the tiny sketches I made. "Aish, I seriously don't understand why you like bio." I mumbled under my breath.

The only reason I'm in this class is because of him, my best friend and low key my crush. People say it's weird to like your own best friend but in my case, it's one of the craziest things puberty made me feel or do. Sighing, I put away my pencil and glanced at the board.

...

It was finally lunch and after this is Physics, one of my favorite subject. Hyped, I was humming to BTS - I Need U as I took out my physics book out the locker. "Uh Karime," Taetae said. I turned to him as he looked at with those eyes trying to tell me something. "What is it?" I asked, before shutting the locker door.

"I was wondering if you could leave me a time slot after school," he softly asked. Taetae asking like this to me isn't usual, in fact he has never been so uncomfortable asking me anything. "Is there anything wrong?" I asked, worried about my always-hyper best friend acting so weird. He nodded, "I just wanted to fix a few things before I ran out of time." he said.

"I'm not up for puzzles today Taetae, but I do have time." I lazily responded. I've always had a thing for him but I was never sure until last year. Taetae was asked about by this girl in our class and I got so angry and nervous that I forced Taetae to turn her down by spreading rumors about her. It was childish and immature of me to do that but I wasn't ready to stop being his priority. I wanted to be his priority.

Taehyung's POV

"I'm not up for puzzles today Taetae, but I do have time." she lazily responded. I've been trying to say this one thing for two years and I still haven't. Slightly because she's too pretty for me... and she's my freaking best friend for the past 6 years. I followed her to the lunch area, stepping on her shadow from behind.

But we were stopped by Jin, high school prom king that's been showing interest on Karime for the past few weeks. I knew Karime wouldn't like that type of guy but inside, I was still insecure. "Karime," he said, flashing his flirty smile. "What, Jin? Don't you see I'm on my way to lunch?" she bitterly said back.

"Well, Jimin and I are throwing a party later this evening and thought you should come... alone." that obviously meant not to bring me. Karime turned around and wrapped her hands around my arms. "I've got plans, now if you'll excuse me high school jerk." she pulled me into the cafeteria and sat at our usual place.

"You turned down the prom king..." I said, carefully studying her response. She shrugged, "Yeh, for you Taetae so it better be something important." she glared at me. I knew she was joking but it really worried me that she hasn't say that she doesn't like Jin. "Perhaps if you like him, you should go." I said, trying to sound like her best friend but half stabbing myself in the heart.

"Pfft," she let out a slight laugh. "I'd rather be stuck with you and your boring jokes than being wasted at his party. Besides, you're my best friend, you're my priority." her voice softened at the end, making my stomach twist.

...

Karime's POV

As I came out my last class, I saw Taetae nervously walking back and forth. "Sorry you had to wait." I said, referring to my 15 minutes delayed class. He shrugged, "It's okay, let's go if you're ready." he said. I noticed him sweating. "Is everything alright?" I asked, getting really worried. He sighed, "You'll know when we get there."

We arrived at a cafe that was near our school. Sitting down, I caught sighim staring at me carefully. "Taetae," I locked my eyes on his. "If you are diagnosed by any disease or if you're going to move to another country, don't tell me." I gestured a crying face. I was just thinking all the possibilities that made him this nervous and it was pretty stupid of me. "I'm not going anywhere." he assured. My face relaxed as we ordered caramel macchiato for each of us.

"Actually, I've been keeping a secret from you." He started after taking a long breath. "You're not dating anyone, are you?" I asked, failing to hide my frown. "No," he defended. "But I have been growing feelings for someone," he said. My hands that were on the cup's handle glided down under the desk and clutched one another, praying it was me.

"Good for you," I said, totally not meaning it. "But she seems like she doesn't like me that way." he sighed. If she doesn't, I will. "So... who's the unlucky girl?" I asked. Of course she's lucky! She's the luckiest!

"You," he mumbled, looking to the floor.

You?

"What?" I naturally responded, demanding him to repeat. "It's you Karime, you're the unlucky girl. And seems like I did a big mistake telling you all these stupid stuffs because you obviously don't like me." he stood up from place and wiped out his sweat.

"Stop, Kim Taehyung." I grabbed his wrist before he could leave. "Who say I don't like you?" I softly asked. "You do?" he looked up, revealing his watery eyes. "Yes, idiot! I like you, a lot." I bit my lower lips. "Really?" he asked, still not believing what I just said. "You really like me?" he asked again.

"Yes," I smiled. Under that smile was my heart beating like a thousands time per second and butterflies having a rock festival inside my stomach. My crush liked me all this time!

A crescent smile formed on his face as his hands pulled me into a hug. His hug was warm. Even if I was being hugged by him everyday more than once, this was different. This one felt like I was a chocolate and I was being heated to melt down.

"Jesus Christ Karime, you ditched me for him!" a voice interrupted us. We broke the hug to see Jin standing in our way. "What's your problem?" I glared, putting Taetae behind me. But he pushed me away and covered me instead. I chuckled, Taetae has never stood up the big bullies. "It's okay, I can handle this." I whispered.

He rejected and stayed in front of me. Less than a second, Jin threw a strong fist at his face. Taetae flew onto the floor. "Jin!" I yelled, quickly helping Taetae stand up. "If you're going out with someone that pretty, learn some tricks noob." Jin huffed and walked out of the cafe. "Are you okay?" I asked, wiping off the blood on his chin.

I couldn't help but laugh a little. "You're boyfriend got hit, laugh is what you respond?" he glared at me. I even laughed more, "It's going to be a great memory how the day you proposed me turned out." I said, still laughing. "I guess I really need to learn some tricks to beat him up next time." Taetae sighed.

I pulled his hands and gave him a quick peck. "Ow," he flinched since I touched his injury. I laughed, "You're so cute." I said. He couldn't hide his smile, "So is this Day 1?" he asked. I nodded happily. "You can say that."

"What do you mean you can say that?" he pouted. "You have to say that." he corrected and patted my head.

There are always things we human keep it to ourselves, assuming sharing it would worsen the situation. But it's not like that. It's our insecurity that's keeping us from being happy sometimes. Sometimes, you just have to let it out because truth is something that'll be revealed one way or another.

Did I bible-talk? But anyways, I hope you all enjoyed it! The story slacked off a little at the end so sorry guys!
