Chapter 18

I sat on the couch in my living room flipping through my text book. I had already finished all the practice tests in the book so now I was trying to find if there was anything else I could do to study. It was currently Saturday afternoon and I had my math test on Monday morning and I was in serious study mode. My scholarship is riding on this class and I knew I had to get straight A's for universities to even consider looking at my application. Even though I knew all the material I was still worried, I've always been good at tests but this just felt so much more real. After I get my results from this test I have to send my scholarship application in right away. I sighed for the umpteenth time and ran my hands through my hair.

I heard my phone go off and I perked up instantly, I guess Vic is done work early. He had a meeting with Oliver, a solo meeting too, meaning it was just Oliver and Vic. It made me uncomfortable thinking they'd be alone together but Vic assured me before he left for their meeting it would be strictly business. Which did make me feel a bit better but of course he would say that to me, it's not like he'd tell me straight to my face they were going to fuck in the park. I reached for my phone which was laying on the coffee table. Before I even had a chance to look at the text the front door slammed open. I jumped at the loud bang and instantly felt my heart beat racing.

"Kellin?" It was Vic, I let out a deep sigh of relief. I told him to lock the door when he left!

"Jesus, you scared me" I told him clenching my chest trying to lower my heart rate "Living room" I hollered at him and I heard his heavy footsteps moving towards me. He entered the living room and he looked angry. "What's wrong babe?" I asked him instantly and stood up to console him.

"Ugh nothing, just... business" he grumbled and slumped down in the love seat. I walked over and straddled him.

"Tell me about it" I urged him, wanting to know what Oliver did.

"It's nothing Kells" he dismissed.

"C'mon, please? I am in this business too y'know" I tried to pursued him, which apparently worked.

"Oliver has been asking around and he knows you aren't actually selling" He told me bluntly.

"Oh" I gasped, he really did that? Who am I kidding, of course he did. From here on out he's probably going to do whatever it takes to try and get a reason to kick me out of their business.

"It's fine, I'll figure it out" He sighed and rubbed his forehead. I felt bad for him, here he was not only looking out for his brother now he has to try and look out for me too. And it's all my fault too, if I hadn't barged in on their meeting then none of this would have happened.

"Well, maybe I could go up there for like, one day and try to sell?" I suggested quietly.

"No" Vic replied instantly "Absolutely not, I put you in this-"

"No, I put myself in this" I said over him loudly "This was my doing and I want to help"

"Kellin," He groaned and pushed me off him "I'm not going to let you do this!"

"Please." I begged, "let me help you out for once" He sighed in response meaning he was thinking it over, so I started talking before he could over think it. "How about I'll do it just tonight and if nothing happens then I won't go out there again but if it works out then maybe I can help. Just for a little bit at least, y'know until Oliver lays off"

I didn't want to sell drugs but I did want to help Vic. I mean, if I get caught then my whole future is gone. Everything I've worked so hard for would have been for nothing. I defiantly won't be getting any scholarships and I could go to jail. However, I knew I had the brain to do this sort of thing, I could easily out talk anyone on that side of town. I did it for my whole life over there and it's easy, as long as you fake a smile and complement their front yard they'll think you're the nicest boy in town. Even the police on that side of town weren't too difficult to talk to.
