"I'm sorry," I said, I feel horrible, "but I can't date you. I'm dead. You would be viewed as mentally ill from the out side world. I couldn't do that to you."

"Then just become a demon or something," Lily was persistant, "or I'll could learn ancient spells to bring your body back. You could be my zombie girlfriend, only less dramatic than the webtoon."

"I'm sorry but I don't think it's an option," I got up to leave.

"Fine, but I won't give up!" She was determined now, "Even if I have to die myself. I'll keep trying until you accept. I have a switch blade in my bag, and there's lots of cars outside."

She's gonna kill herself for me?! I had to think of something, Crap now I have to accept. Sly little witch.

"Okay! Okay, I'll be your girlfriend," I said, she has to forget about me sooner or later, right?

"You aren't just saying that are you? You better not be lying to me," Lily handed me a paper flower.

"I'm not lying. Besides having my first significant other. Could be interesting," I said, maybe it won't be terrible.

"Really, I'm your first?" She asked.

"Y-yeah you're my first," I told her.

"But you're so pretty, thin waist, thick thighs, nice lips, huge boobs, flat stomach," She was describing me,  "who wouldn't want to date you. You're the perfect hour glass."

"It was usually the eye that ended any flirting," I covered my left socket, "and the fact that bullies spread rumors before anyone could get to know me."

"Really? I like your eyes," Lily had a sweet smile of her face, "it all so pretty. Gorgeous even."

"You don't have to lie to make me feel better," I looked away, "I'm already dead what's a compliment gonna do."

"Make you love me more of course," Lily smiled and her phone rang, "I'll see you tomorrow. Okay. And don't forget you're my girlfriend okay."

"A-alright," I said as she went out the door,  what the hell did I just get into? Crap is this gonna last all eternity?!

"Dad I'm home," I walked into my dad sleep and drunk on the couch. I knew he couldn't here me, "I got a girlfriend today. I'm sorry I didn't give you a proper goodbye before leaving. But I'll  leave notes around the house for you, just like mom did before the divorce. You'll always know I'm there. Also please don't have an exorcist get ride of me."

I left a note on top of his phone with an apology for dying without saying goodbye and everything I did today.

I watched him sleep all night. When the sun rose I gave him a little wake up nudge to get him to open his eyes. He didn't seem to notice anything different. He had my paper flowers in his hair and was sleeping with my stuffed octopus in his arms. He was carrying it around everywhere with him, just like I used to. When he showered he left it in the living room with the TV turned onto the cartoon channel. I guess my dolly was his new daughter. As I expected he screamed and freaked out when he finally noticed the note and ran out of the house.

"Dad..." I watched him run into his car and drive away, "I guess he needs more time to heal."

My old alarm rang in my room. I guess I should go, I left the house and locked the door, she'll be upset if I don't  show up. I made my way to school and kept an eye out for her. I noticed a unlocked locker by that popular bully from the garage sale. I went in closer to hear.

"And like the lipstick wrote I won't miss next time all on its own," She said.

"No way, that's so scary. And who would mess up a perfectly good brand name bag," one of her friends said, "even ghosts have no taste."

I whipped open the locker door next to her. A perfect bulls eye.  I hit her right eye no problem. They all ran screaming. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Maxie, why did you do that?" It was Lily's voice.

"They were getting on my nerves. Talking about people behind their backs. Saying things like 'totally girrl super lame', and, 'oh my god is that really what she's wearing.' They need  to learn some respect," I said as I watched the other kids talk about what happened.

"So you're a good ghost," Lily stared at me with her bright green hazel eyes, "I knew you were a good person... oh uh ghost I mean."

"How do you figure?" I replied.

"Anyone who isn't involved you leave alone. You only act when it's necessary. Other than that you're just like when you were alive," Lily came in close, "I'm glad I fell for you."

She was making feel strange. The bell rang classes were starting.

"Come on you can walk me to class," Lily grabbed my hand.

She isn't phasing through me, I wondered, how? I wonder what she really is.

I was bored all day long. Dad was afraid of me, bullies continued despite my warnings and Lily was stuck in classes. I waited by the window. Lily sat out in gym. I wasn't surprised though she seemed eager to play. She reminded me of a puppy. I jumped down next to her.

"You wanna play?" I asked, what am I doing?

"You have a game I can play?" Lily was excited, "Ooo what is it?"

"How about catch?" I offered.

"Okay," Lily said.

I found a soft ball no one was using. They alway say these balls don't hurt when they hit, but only the good atheists say that. It really does hurt when you get hit. I stayed by the wall so it looked like Lily was playing against the wall. She looked so happy to be playing with someone. The other kids ignored us and I was glad they did. I didn't want Lily to get hurt because she was hanging out with me.

"Max," Lily said, "Do you miss your body?"

"It's only been three days. I'm fine how I am right now," I replied.

"Sorry if this seems a little selfish but...  like being the only one who can feel your skin and hold you know," She was blushing.

"Speaking of which how can you touch me?" I said, "When I hang out at the toy store everyone else just phases through me."

"Oh...," She was quiet for a second, "Yeah I don't really know how that works myself. But lucky me right."

"y-yeah," I tossed her the ball, I wonder if she really doesn't know why?

We tossed the ball back and forth until the bell rang. Even though she had to sit to play she still looked as happy as ever.
