It was only a few months later. Lily's mom had started living with everyone and began her new job at a local business."Lily don't you have a project due on monday," Lily's mom said.
"I'm almost done with it. No worries," Lily replied at dinner.
"Alright," Her mom,"Max could you be sure my protagonist daughter gets her work done."
"Oh sure," I replied, "I don't mind."
"Excilent," hmshe said, "tomorrow we'llgo out to eat. After all you transformation is just about done right Max."
"Yeah, I feel like I'm alive again," I held Lily's hand, "and there aren't any downside so far."
We finished dinner and relaxed together on the couch. After everyone else went to bed I stayed up with Lily in her room.
"Max," Lily's voice was weak and she pulled my shirt as we laid on the bed, "I need help."
"Let me guess," I patted her head, "You haven't started your project."
"Yeah~," Lily gave me a bagging face they pull in her amines, "pleeaase~"
"Alright, tomorrow before dinner we'll head to the library. I'll help take notes but you're doing the actual work yourself," I ran my fingers through her hair.
"Thank you," she gave a sigh if relief and rested her head on me, "can we go to bed now?"
"Sure," I turned the lap off and we fell asleep together as usual.
I woke up earlier than Lily. I wanted to get up but I also didn't want to wake her. She was even holding onto my shirt, just like a new born. Eventually she woke up and hazy at that.
"How are you feeling?" I said, "You're not usually hazy when you get up."
"I'm hungry," Lily yawned.
"Alright well breakfast should be ready now."
Lily and I brushed our teeth and went out for breakfast. Lily didn't feel like using her crutches so I carried her out. We spent the morning on the couch. Lily was feeling a little warm and seemed calmer that usual. I knew she was sick. What did dad used to do for me when I was sick again? I thought, soup... blankets... no school obviously... what was that last thing? Oh right hot and cold cream with warn clothes.
"Lily I'm gonna go get a few things okay,"I laid her down on the couch.
"No~,"Lily whined, "Don't go."
"I'll be right back," I said, I kissed her forehead, she's warmer, "wait here okay."
I grabbed a think blanket, a sock, vapor rub since there was no hot and cold, and started some tea. I put the vapor rub on Lily's back, cheast, behind her ears, on her foot, and covered her up in the blanket. Once the tea was done I let it cool a bit before giving it to Lily.
"I'm not sick,"Lily said.
"If that was true where's you bright sparkly attitude," I hugged her while keeping her wrapped up.
I wanted her all day. By dinner time her fever was got and she was excited and cheerful as usual. I suggested we all have warm soup just to be sure Lily wasn't sick anymore. I made sure Lily fell asleep early that night. I kept an eye on her all night.
"Why do I feel like I'm forgetting something?" I said as I started undressing,"hm... oh crap her project! Oh man it's due tomorrow!" I covered my mouth with my hands as I heard Lily turn in her sleep. I looked to be sure she was still asleep. She was.
I wait about an hour after Lily was asleep and check the instructions for her project. She had done nothing for it. I took the instructions and around midnight I left for the library. I dressed in all black and snuck in. I spent until seven in the morning working and typing.
I used the printer and packed everything up. I snuck out just as they were opening and headed back home. Lily's alarm was just going off when I came in. I left her bag, with the project inside, by her desk and woke her up.
"Maxie? You look exhausted. What happened?" Lily asked.
"Let's just say your project it all taken care of. Go ahead and give that report on the history of human evolution," I yawned.
"Oh Maxie thank you!" Lily hugged me, "Oh you're so sweet."
I slept on the roof while Lily went to class. I knew she would do fine on her project. I couldn't help but smile when she came out of class with an A on her project. She started home after everyone in regular classes left. We were just leaving from the gate when I heard someone running behind us. I figure it was someone from the track team.
"Maxien?" I heard a voice behind me,"I thought you were dead?"
