birthday surprise

chapter 7

The ambulance finally gets to our street and picks up Jack. Both of the drivers were fine, so Daniel rides with him and me and the rest of the boys call Logan and have him take us to the hospital.

at the hospital..
We see the doctors and nurses push Jack down the hall while we have to wait in the waiting room. I start bawling my eyes out and Zach comes over and puts his arm around me.
"Hey, it'll be okay Lizzy, Jack will walk through those doors soon. Everything will go back to normal. I promise." he says. I lean in to give him a hug and he kisses my forehead.
Logan comes over to us and has me lay my head on his shoulder.
"Zach's right, he'll be fine, don't worry about a thing." Just then the doctors come out.
"He has a broken leg, which will heal on its own quickly since it's not to major, but he does have a pretty big piece of glass stuck inside his head. We're guessing the airbags didn't go off correctly and when the car hit you the impact made him whack his head on the window which made it crack. We're going to be sending him into surgery soon, but before that if anyone would like to see him, you can, just follow me." The doctor says.
The boys and I follow him into the room Jack's in. It was a horrible sight. He was hooked up to a ton of cords, his leg was in the air, and his head was wrapped in a large bandage to keep the blood from flowing all over. His neck and arms were scraped up and were very red. I could only see half of his face due to the bandage, but from what I saw, his face was really pale. He looked although he was dead. Even his hair looked lifeless. I walk up to him and gently hold his hand. He gives me a light squeeze and groans softly. I could see a small smile form on his lips, it didn't last long, but it was there. Then the nurses come back in and have us go back into the waiting room.

(Zach's pov)
Lizzy went to sit back down by Logan and I decided to sit next to her. I figure if things don't go well with Jack, then she could be with me. Things aren't looking to good for him so if I'm there for her now, she'll have to like me, right?

(corbyns pov)
I see Zach put his arm around Lizzy. I've seen the way he looks at her, and I just know he really likes her. But she's with Jack, and even though they've only been dating for a few days, it seems really serious. I make eye contact with Zach and he puts his arm back to his side. I look around the room and Daniel starts crying softly. That's when I lose it, and then Jonah too. Zach just looks down.
