Anyways, on with the chapter.
The week had passed by fairly quick, with Adelaide joining Anne, Ruby, and Diana in their newly formed book club. If she wasn't with them, she spent her time in her room reading, stealing glances out the window to see how the house was coming, focused on one boy in particular.
She never got the chance to talk to her mother all week. Alice was either away with George, or sleeping in her bed. Adelaide noticed how tired she had been, seeming as if she was ill. Alice had barely gotten out of bed.
Adelaide took one last look in the mirror and decided not to brush her hair, since it was too much effort. She laced up her boots and went to say goodbye to her mother, thinking that maybe she could use this time to talk. George had left an hour before to go see his relatives for a few days.
