I looked out the window to see Dad's headlight looking back at me.

I started panicking so I just said, "Cherry, are you really going to tell him?"

She smiled devilishly and said, "Of course!"

I rolled my eyes getting off the couch and pulled out my purse.

I opened it up taking my mirror out of it and shutting it back up.

I said, "Cherry, look."

Which really got her attention.

Then, I said all baby-ish, "Preeety Mirror."

Her eyes lighted up as she ran towards me to get it out of my hands.

She looked into it in a daze as dad was unlocking the front door.

I ran upstairs changing into track clothes and splashing water everywhere.

I ran back downstairs to see dad staring at my sister like she was weird.

Which she is.

I said trying to sound out of breath, "Hey, Coach."

He smiled and said, "How'd practice go?"

I glanced down to see Cherry still memorized by her mirror:

and answered back, "It was good."

Dad nodded his head and walked in the kitchen to start making dinner.

I said to myself, "Whew, that was close."

I grabbed Cherry by her arms and carried her upstairs to her room.

I saw she had tons of pictures plastered up against her wall.

But what caught my attention the most was the picture of Ponyboy Curtis.

I could tell it was cut out of a yearbook, and he looked really nice.

I smiled looking at it but then looked down noticing I was blushing.

Cherry finally awoke from her daze and asked, "Did dad get mad when I told him?"

I nodded my head lying, "Yep, he sure did, and I'm grounded for two weeks."

She smiled and said, "Good, after today you deserve it."

I tilted my head and asked, "What happened today at school?"

She gave me a long "Ughhhhh" and fell back onto her bed.

She then continued, "It was the most humiliating moments of my life."

I asked her, "What?"

She sat up looking me directly in the eyes and said, "It's about Ponyboy."

I replied, "Ok, what about Ponyboy?"

She said, "There's a rumor spreading around that he likes you."

I don't know why, but after she said that a smile grew on my face.

She asked, "So, do you like him back?"

I shrugged and said nonchalantly, "I just got out of a relationship last night."

She replied, "Yeah, yeah, with Christian I know."

I asked, "How could you possibly have known that? He broke up with me just last night."

She shrugged and said, "Word spreads fast around campus-Like with Pony.

So, do you like him yes or no because I really have to know."

I asked, "Wait, what was the humiliating thing that happened to you?"

She looked out her window and said, "I might have mentioned to Marcia that I sort of dig Pony just a little bit."

Of course, out of all the people of the world my sister had to be the one to like him.

She immediately said, "But if you get Pony to tell everyone the truth, then people will talk about me again and not you."

She smiled when she said that last part.

I started walking out the door and said, "Ok, fine. I'll talk to him."

I heard her yell out to me, "Thanks, sis."

It made me mad for some reason to hear that.

I closed her door and ran to my room.

I slammed my door tightly shut and leaned up against the inside of the door.

I let a tear escape my eye but questioned it.

Where were all these deep feelings coming from?

How can I move on from Christian this fast?

Why am I crying?
