When I got out of detention, the track coach spotted me and walked up to me.

I thought to myself I am in so much trouble.

He yelled at me, "Where were you?! I expected you to be at practice!"

I shyly said, "Yes, Coach, I was just in Detention."

He rubbed his face and said, "Now, c'mon Matthews! Your better then that!"

I said to him, "I know Coach, I promise it won't happen again."

He replied, "It better not, I expect to see you at practice tomorrow."

I nodded my head and said, "Yes, Coach."

He walked away, and I let out a sigh of relief.

I went to my locker and grabbed the books I needed for homework.

Ponyboy caught up to me in the halls.

He said, "Hey, Sabrina. Sorry you were in detention."

I smiled and said, "It's fine I guess I shouldn't have been talking in class."

He muttered, "Anyways...I was wondering if you wanted to come with me and my gang to the Dingo tomorrow."

I answered him, "I would love to, Pony, but my dad will be really upset."

Pony's smile faded and he asked, "It's because we're Greasers ain't it?"

I replied, "No, it's just that he wants me practicing track after school."

He said, "Oh, well just for tomorrow please."

I looked into his hopeful eyes sighing and said, "Fine, I guess I'll go."

He said, "Yes!"

I smiled and said to him, "See ya tomorrow, Pony."

He went to his locker pulling books out as well as I left the building.

I saw my dad's car out front, and I started walking over to it.

But I was stopped by someone calling my name, "Hey, Emma!"

I turned around to see who was calling me and it was Christian.

I smiled and said, "Oh, hey, Christian."

He asked, "I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date Saturday?"

I thought about it and said, "That would be nice, of course."

It's not on a school day, so I really don't need to practice track then.

He said, "Great, I'll pick you up around seven."

I smiled and replied, "Sounds good, I'll see ya tomorrow."

He quickly said, "Oh, I won't be here tomorrow, gotta take care of something."

I asked, "Again? That's your third time this week."

He shrugged and replied, "Well, yeah it's kinda important."

I said, "Well, just don't be getting into any trouble alright? Promise?"

He put his hands up in self defense and answered, "Promise."

I leaned in to kiss him, but I was again interrupted when my dad honked his horn.

I shut my eyes tightly and just gave him a short hug.

I said, "I have to go, see ya Saturday night."

He nodded his head and said, "Ok, bye."

I turned around and my dad looked furious, so I decided to sit in the back.

He didn't say a word until we got out of the schools front parking lot.

He then asked, "How was track practice?"

I just lied and said, "It was good, Coach made me lead runner so now I have to lead everyone else."

My dad then smiled which made me relieved and said, "That's my girl."

I asked him, "Dad, would it be ok if I went with some new friends out tomorrow after school?"

He asked, "Do I know these friends?"

I replied, "No, I became friends with them on my first day at school."

He then said, "Sorry, the answers no. You need to keep your head in the game because you never know when a track game will come up."

I nodded my head and said, "Yes, sir."

It was quiet all he way back home, not any words were said.

Cherry I'm guessing was out with Marcia or Bob because I didn't see her.

I looked out the window to see Ponyboy's brother's car was behind us.

I quickly texted him, "Hey, I see your car behind us."

He texted back five minutes after, Oh, yeah I can see you to."

When I looked back out the back window, Sodapop waved at me.

I waved back and silently laughed.

My dad of course was paying no attention like always.

Pony texted me again, "Soda says hi."

I texted him back, "Tell him he's being goofy."

Ponyboy texted back, "When is he not."

We basically had a whole conversation together until our cars went in opposite directions.

Then, Ponyboy turned around and waved at me and I waved at him.

I turned back around to see that we were halfway home, so I put my phone up.

This was a pretty good day.
