Detention

When I got up in the morning, I was the only one in the house.

I realized I was almost late for school, so I rushed doing everything.

Doing hair and makeup, a five minute shower, breakfast, and etc.

When I basically had to run to school, I saw Christian at the front of the school.

I walked over to him and he smiled kissing my cheek.

He said, "Hey babe."

I smiled and said, "So, you decided to come to school today?"

He replied with, "Well, yeah, after you told me that Johnny kid was all over you I thought I might as well come."

I hugged him and said, "You're the best."

He held my hand and walked into school with me.

Ponyboy and Johnny Cade came up to me and said, "Hey Emma."

I said, "Oh, hey Ponyboy and Johnny."

Christian grabbed Johnny by the collar and asked, "You been flirting my girl?"

Johnny went as white as a ghost but shook his head no like a thousand times.

I grabbed Christian's arm and literally yanked him off of Johnny.

I said, "Christian, this is my friend Johnny Cade. He wasn't that other Johnny."

Christian lightened up and said, "Oh, well then my bad sorry kid."

He ruffled his hair up.

Ponyboy didn't look happy at all more like jealous in a way.

I asked him, "What's wrong, Pony?"

He just shook his head and walked off.

I looked up at Christian and said, "I better go talk to him."

I let go of Christian's hand and said, "You need to become friends with Johnny right now."

I left them there talking and walked up to Pony who was by his open locker.

I closed his locker and said, "Alright, spill it. Why are you acting mad?"

He didn't say anything, he just looked at his book bag.

It was a brief moment of silence until he said, "Its nothing."

I said, "Yes, it is or you would be talking to me right now."

He replied, "I am talking words are coming out of my mouth right now."

I asked, "Well, I was wondering if we could work on the book report tonight?"

Christian walked over to me and placed his arm over my shoulder.

Ponyboy's face fell and he said, "Looks like your busy, maybe tomorrow."

I looked up at Christian and then back at Ponyboy walking away.

What's going on with him?

In English, I poked his arm so many times trying to annoy the crap outta him.

He finally looked over at me and mouthed the word, "What?"

I gave him the note I wrote that said, "Why are you acting weird?"

After writing something down, he handed the paper back to me.

I opened the note up to read, "I'm fine."

I looked up to see the teacher standing over me.

He grabbed my note and after reading it tore it up giving me a detention slip.

I said to him, "Um, I can't have detention today I have track practice."

He said, "Well, too bad you should've thought about that."

My dad is going to kill me!

I looked over at Pony and he gave me a sincere look and went back to drawing.

Have you ever had detention at school?

Well, for detention here I learned that you have to sit in the principles office alone with everyone else till time to go.

When I trudged to the principles office after school, Christian ran into me.

He asked, "Hey, tracks that way."

He pointed in the opposite direction I was walking in.

I said, "I know, but I got detention so now I have to go this way."

He replied with, "Oh, well if you got detention then I got it to."

I asked, "For?"

He answered, "For nothing, I'm just gonna be there for you."

I said, "Aw."

As I leaned in to kiss him, the principle roamed by and stopped me.

He said, "No PDA in the halls, that's double detention for you Miss Valance."

I groaned walking with Christian to detention.

The principle said, "Ill be back in an hour and a half."

He closed the door leaving and locked it.

I honestly feel like a wild animal stuck inside a cage.

Christian said out of the blue, "So, does that Pony kid like you or something?"

I turned to him and asked, "What? No, Ponyboy's just a friend."

He said, "Yeah, but I see the way he looks at you kinda like the way I look at you."

I smiled at him.

The dweebs in the back yelled, "Romeo, Juliet. Can you pipe it down?"

Christian got up from his seat, whispered in my ear, "I'll be right back" and then walked back there to them.

I didn't even turn around because I knew what he was going to do.

I could just hear them back there regretting what they said to us.

I could also hear the part where Christian beat them up.

They were probably some Greasers that always gets into trouble.

Christian came and sat back down beside me.

I said to him, "I really want to thank you for always being there for me."

He smiled and said, "No problem your my Juliet. I love you."

This is his first ever time he's told me that.

After a long pause of thinking about this moment right now, Christian broke my thoughts.

He asked, "What about you? Do you love me?"

I looked away from his eyes and said, "I don't know what love is."

He didn't say a word after that probably thinking things over as well.

When detention was over, it felt as if I were free from jail.
