Veronica had been half-listening to Betty telling her about Riverdale High's bland school history during her welcome tour when she first saw you.
You were standing at the other end of the hall talking to some friends, making Veronica stop in her tracks.
"Who's the hottie down the hall and is he single?" Veronica suggestively asked Betty.
"Uh, that's my brother Y/N and yes, he is single," Betty responded awkwardly.
"Wait, that's your brother?" Veronica said surprised.
"Yeah, we're fraternal twins."
"Oh, well... I retract my previous comments then," Veronica muttered.
"Veronica, it's okay if you like him," Betty said softly.
"Betty, you don't date your friends siblings, it's like an unspoken rule-"
"Hey Betty," you said unintentionally interrupting their conversation after seeing your sister with the cute new girl.
"Hey Y/N, this is Veronica," Betty said gesturing to the girl next to her.
"It's nice to meet you Veronica," you said smiling at her.
"The pleasure's mine," Veronica responded slightly blushing.
In the following weeks Veronica and Betty became close but Veronica couldn't help her growing crush on her best friends brother.
Calm, cool and collected Veronica Lodge became a flustering mess around Y/N Cooper.
Betty may be naïve but she wasn't oblivious, she noticed how Veronica's behavior changed around you.
Veronica wasn't the only one with a crush, the feelings were mutual on your end and Betty could tell.
"Do you like Veronica?" your sister asked you one morning over breakfast.
"What," you coughed after nearly choking on your bite of food.
"Do you like Veronica," Betty reiterated.
"Well yeah, she's nice and a good friend to you," you shrugged.
"No I mean do you have a crush on her," she said rolling her eyes.
"What makes you say that," you said with a faux chuckle.
"I don't know, maybe because you both become total dorks around each other and the first time she saw you she called you a 'hottie' before she found out you were my brother," Betty stated bluntly.
"She thinks I'm hot?" you said raising an eyebrow.
"Really, that's what you got out of that?" Betty sighed, "just ask her out already Y/N."
"You wouldn't care if I asked your best friend out?"
"I mean it might be weird at first but if you two really like each other then you should be together," Betty told you with sincerity in her voice.
"Thanks Betty, you're the best," you smiled getting up from the table to go get ready for school.
Later that day you found Veronica putting books into her locker at the beginning of lunch.
"Hey Veronica," you greeted walking up to her.
"Hey Y/N, what's up," Veronica said shutting her locker door.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to go to Pop's with me Friday night, like a date?" you said smoothly.
"A date? As much as I want to say yes... what about Betty?"
"Betty's totally cool with it, she's the one who told me to ask you out."
"She did?"
"Yeah, I guess she's tired of us being, and I quote 'total dorks around each other'," you laughed.
"Alright, then I'd love to go out with you Y/N Cooper," Veronica smiled.
