You couldn't help but watch as Cheryl walked passed the table you sat at in the cafeteria. She always noticed your staring, which only made you do it more. Cheryl's eyes flicked to yours for no more than a second, just enough time for you to catch the wink she sent your way.
"You're still swooning over her?" Veronica asked, interrupting your moment. "Not that I dislike her, but you deserve better."
"Cheryl's the best, Ronnie," You countered, turning back around to face the group in front of you.
"If you would just look at someone other than her, I think you would see that she's not," Jughead added, causing you to roll your eyes.
"I get you guys don't like her, but I do. So can't you just let me enjoy this?" You asked. The group shrugged, all turning back to their food without a single word.
"That's what I thought." You stood up from the table, grabbing your backpack and phone. You went to sit with Cheryl, but someone blocked you.
You looked up, smiling when you saw Cheryl.
"Hey," You greeted. "You look lovely today."
"Thanks," She responded. "Come with me."
You didn't hesitate to follow the redhead, sending your friends a smirk as you left. You could see Betty sigh as you walked off, but you didn't care.
"So you're swooning over me?" Cheryl asked, stopping at the end of an empty hallway. You felt your cheeks heat up a bit, and you suddenly forgot how to speak.
"I, uh," You stammered, refusing to make eye contact. "I guess."
"Don't be nervous. It doesn't suit you," Cheryl said, her tone unreadable. You weren't sure if it was a compliment or not, so you paused before answering.
"Thanks?" You almost asked.
"Anytime, babe," She purred, stalking off. You could hear her heels clicking until she was no longer in sight.
"Interesting,' You muttered, shaking your head.
You were sat in biology class, listening to Veronica talk about the amazing night she had with Archie. You had tuned out pretty early on in the conversation, not needing to hear the details. You heard the stool beside you move, and you quickly glanced towards it. You saw Cheryl sitting there, placing her notebook on the table in front of her.
"Hey, Cheryl," You greeted. She shot you a grin, making your heart flutter.
"Morning, (y/n). I like your outfit," She complimented. You blushed, biting your lip.
"Thanks."
"It would look better on my bedroom floor, though," She added, causing you to look at her again. You couldn't form a response, no matter how hard you tried. Cheryl smirked, opening her notebook as the teacher started the lesson. You turned back to Veronica, who was giving you an encouraging smile. You raised your eyebrows at her, shrugging a bit. Cheryl Blossom could never like someone like you.
Cheryl slowly opened the door to the student lounge, looking around to see if anyone else was in there. She yelped in surprise when she saw Veronica sitting on the couch, smirking at her.
"Veronica," Cheryl greeted.
"Cheryl."
"I was kind of hoping no one else would be in here," Cheryl started.
"Do you like (y/n)?" Veronica asked, placing her purse on the couch and standing up. Cheryl was taken aback by the question; she didn't think it had been obvious at all. She had kept her constant thinking about the girl on the down low, not wanting to accept that flirting had become so much more for her.
"No," Cheryl answered, folding her arms over her chest. She could feel had facade slowly breaking, unsure of how to convince Veronica that she wasn't head over heels for (y/n).
"You know she likes you, right? She might even love you," Veronica said, shrugging a bit. "Don't you think it's unfair to lead her on if you don't like her?"
Cheryl raised her eyebrows, chewing on her perfectly painted red lip. She decided not to answer, fearing anything she said would give her away.
You were walking through the hallway, needing to talk to a teacher about a homework assignment you didn't quite understand. You couldn't help but notice one of your best friends talking to your crush through the window into the student lounge, causing you to stop walking. You peered in, making sure that neither would be able to see you, should they glance in your direction.
"If you do like her, I suggest you act on it," Veronica suggested, and your brows furrowed. Were they talking about you?
Cheryl sighed, shrugging.
"Maybe I could just keep-"
Veronica cut her off. "Just ask her out, Cheryl!"
You couldn't stop your heart from picking up its pace, and your hands started to shake. You quickly continued down the hallway, only hoping that they had been talking about you, and not some other girl who had caught Cheryl's eye.
You stared at Cheryl as you stood at your locker, watching as she touched up her makeup in the mirror inside of hers. You sighed, placing your binder inside before closing it up. You wanted to talk to her, but you weren't too sure what you would say. You continued to watch her until she shut her locker, turning and catching your gaze. She smiled and took a deep breath before walking over to you. You felt your chest tighten, but you forced yourself to smile back.
"Hey, (y/n)," She began.
"Hi."
"So, I've been thinking," She continued. "About you and I."
Your eyes widened when you heard her say those words, and you eagerly encouraged her to continue.
"Would you want to go on a date sometime?" She asked.
You rubbed your chin with two fingers, pretending to think about the offer. Cheryl laughed a bit, and you smiled.
"I would love to."
