Bolt and Penny

Something New

Penny sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed. Bolt climbed up next to her and lay his head on her lap. For a while neither of them said anything, but Bolt broke the silence. "So uh, Penny."
Penny looked down at Bolt. "You can understand me right?" Penny nodded. She put a hand on Bolt's back and gently stroked his soft fur. Instead of bombarding him with questions, Penny just sat there thinking of what else to say. "Penny?" Bolt nuzzled her side. "Yeah Bolt?" Her Shepherd rolled onto his side and let out a deep sigh. "I gotta say... I love you Penny. Like more than best friends. And I have always wanted to tell you that. But I never could because I'm a-" Penny cut him off. "Bolt, it doesn't matter that you are a dog, I knew you always loved me. You showed it to me by cuddling with me, by giving me kisses, by... getting me this necklace." Penny tapped her chest where her half a heart gift hung from her neck. Bolt looked away, "But I'm a dog and your a human, if anyone ever found out about us... they... they would take me away from you. And I can't live without you." Penny heard him crying in her head and grabbed his cheeks, pulling his head till their eyes met. Penny brought a hand up to Bolts tear stricken face, and gently wiped away his tears. She stared deep into his eyes and said softly, "Bolt... I will never let them split us apart, do you hear me? Never. And so help me god if they try, we will run away. Hell, I'm 18, I can move out whenever I'm damn good and ready." Bolt's bottom lip quivered and Penny saw a single tear slide gingerly down his furry cheek. Leaning in close, Penny opened her mouth and tenderly licked up the side of his face, taking the tear away. Bolt pressed moved his muzzle and pressed his lips to Penny's, and felt Penny gently press back. Breaking the kiss, Bolt passionately nuzzled Penny's cheek and whined softly. "I love you Penny, and nothing will change that." Penny wrapped her arms around her Shepherd and held him close. "I love you too Bolty, wanna cuddle?" Bolt's ears perked up and he said enthusiastically, "Oh yes! Please! I love it when you wrap your arms around me! It makes me feel so loved." Penny giggled and pulled back the covers to the bed. Barking happily, Bolt crawled on his belly over to his spot and got comfortable. Cuddling up behind him, Penny pulled the blanket over them and got into position. Wrapping an arm around his belly, Penny pulled her Bolty closer to her and buried her face in the side of his neck. Bolt let out a sigh of relaxation and relished in the feeling of being held. They lay that way for some time, Penny nuzzling Bolt's soft fur, while she lay her hand over the Shepherd's chest to feel his heart beat. Every muscle in their bodies relaxed and their eyelids fell heavy. "Bolt," Penny whispered softly, Bolt inched as close to her as possible and let out a relaxed sigh. "I think I'm going to fall asleep at this rate. Your fur is so soft and warm, It's like a downy blanket fresh from the dryer." Bolt simply let out another sigh and closed his eyes. "Good, I'd like to take a nap. Just... don't let go of me okay?" Penny squeezed him a little tighter, "I wouldn't dream of it," she whispered into his ear.

A dull grey sky tinted the air of the small town. No birds chirped, no rays of sunshine peeked through the clouds, only the foreboding cold that was the early signs of winter. Bundled up in the covers of Penny's bed, was Bolt. His legs were sprawled out and he had turned over in his sleep. Penny had wrapped her right arm around Bolt's back and pulled him to her. Their legs were intertwined and Penny's face was nestled on top of Bolt's head. Their eyes still closed, Bolt's and Penny's chests rose and dipped rhythmically. Slowly, Penny's eyes opened. Blinking a couple times, she felt Bolt still in her embrace and held him closer. She could feel his warm breath on her bare skin and it warmed her heart. It warmed her to know that he felt the same way she did. Penny gently kissed Boltś head and listened to the silence of the room. Bolt slept for about another half hour before his  eyes slowly opened and looked straight at Penny. Yawning Bolt said, ¨Thanks for not letting go Penny.¨ Penny nuzzled him gently and said,"Your welcome Bolty, sleep well?" Bolt licked Pennyś cheek and buried his muzzle back in her chest. Penny took that as a yes. ¨Let's go back to sleep Bolty.¨ 

*Sorry this chapter is so short. But school has been fisting me pretty hard lately. And sorry it took so long to long to Publish. I promise the next chapter will be longer. I just thought Bolt and Penny were an adorable couple. So plz don't sue meh. *
