Penny opened her eyes wearily and yawned. Sunshine gleamed through her window and the rays of light bounced off various points in the room. Penny smiled and nuzzled into Bolt's soft body. A patch of warm sunshine rested on the cuddling pair, adding to the natural body warmth of snuggles. You know that feeling when you're laying in bed relaxed, and your body is at the perfect temperature? Yeah, that's how Penny was feeling. Not too hot, not too cold, perfect temperature. Penny nuzzled Bolt's ear, "Mmm... Bolt... can we try a new cuddling position?" Bolt didn't say anything but rolled over to face Penny. As he opened his eyes, Penny stared into his brown orbs, his loving gaze said it all. "Yeah Penny... I think we can try a new position. How is the one we're in right now? Will this suffice?" Penny held up a finger, "Hold on a sec, let me fix this." Scooting closer to Bolt, Penny moved one of her legs between Bolt's. Wrapping an arm over his back, Penny ever so gently pulled Bolt into her chest. The white Shepherd nuzzled into Penny's chest, "Oh Penny... this is.... aaaahhhhh... so warm and soft." Penny smiled and gently kissed her Bolty's ear. The soft fur tickled her nose as she buried her face into Bolt's winter coat. All of this, the cuddling, the kisses, the snuggles... they all felt so right. Penny felt as if they were made for each other. From deep down in her chest, Penny felt a flurry of butterflies form, and her body shivered. From in her chest came Bolt's voice, "Penny you shivered, are you cold?" Penny nuzzled along his neck, "No, I'm just happy I get to spend time with you. I love you Bolty, and I feel butterflies whenever I'm with you." As if to back up her statement, another flurry of butterflies fluttered in her stomach. Bolt nuzzled Penny's soft skin, "I love you too Penny."

In a large farmhouse miles from the nearest city, sunlight beamed in through a closed window on the second floor. Inside said window was a room, a bedroom. Inside the bedroom lay two sleeping figures, a girl and her dog. The dog, a White German Shepherd with a light red collar, slept embraced by the girl. She... a girl with long brown hair, brown eyes, and delicate skin... held the dog close to her, as if she was afraid she would let go and he would disappear forever. In their blissful slumber the dog, a former movie star called Bolt, wiggled the tiniest bit in the girl's embrace. I don't even think I could put into words how much love is flowing between them. Every fiber of fur from Bolt's pristine coat, brushed against the girl's skin silky soft. Then ever so slowly... sleepily.... Bolt's eyes opened. A comfortable warmth surrounded his body and his eyes grew heavy once more. "Penny..." The word rang out in the girl's head but Bolt didn't feel her move. Removing his head from her chest, Bolt looked over at his human and saw she was still asleep. "Penny." This time he spoke a bit louder, and it caused the girl to just ever so slightly mumble... "Huh?" Bolt nuzzled against her cheek, "Penny.... don't you think it's time to get up? I feel like if we stay like this for any longer... I'm gonna fall back asleep. Besides, I need to pee." Penny mumbled again, "Mmm.... Bolt... fine. I'll get up." The girl reluctantly released Bolt and rolled onto her back. Getting on all fours, Bolt jumped down from the bed and stretched. Penny sat up on the edge of her bed and yawned. She wiggled her toes and slipped her feet into a pair of fluffy house slippers. "You ready Penny?" The red head yawned again and got to her feet, making her way to the door. Bolt ran down the stairs when she opened it and waited for her at the bottom. "Hold on Bolty....(yawn) I'm coming." Penny walked down the stairs and to the living room door. Slipping into a house robe from the doorside closet, Penny opened the door and let Bolt out. The wind was harsh on her face as she closed the door behind her. Bolt ran into the yard on a search for a place to do his business. Penny crossed her arms across her chest and shivered. "Bolt! You almost done!?" From out in distance the White Shepherd called back, "Almost! Just give me another minute!"

Bolt trotted to the tree that stood in the left side of the yard and raised his leg. "It's not a fire hydrant, but it'll work," he said to himself. Finishing his business, Bolt shook his leg and ran back to the porch. He saw that his Penny was cold, and he didn't want to keep her waiting out here too long. Leaping up all the steps, Bolt skidded to a stop in front of Penny. "Done! Let's go back inside, it's too cold for you out here." Penny nodded and opened the door. Making a beeline for the kitchen, Bolt heard Penny call, "Bolt! Where you going buddy?" He came to stop in front of his water bowl and began to thirstily lap up water. "Can't really talk Penny! Getting a drink!" Pulling his head back, Bolt licked his chops and heard the sound of footsteps behind him. "Hey Bolt! What're you doing boy?" Penny's mom bent down and scratched between his ears. "Hey mom. How long was I sleeping? Did I miss dinner?" Penny entered the kitchen and embraced her mom in a hug. "No sweetheart, you didn't miss dinner. You were only sleeping for about two hours, grandma is making her special tuna fish casserole." Penny gave her mom a final squeeze and let go. Reaching up into the cupboard, she pulled out a glass and filled it up with water. Gulping the cool liquid down, Penny chugged the water and set the glass in the sink. "Hey mom, I'm going back to sleep, wake me up when dinners ready will you?" Penny's mom smiled and nodded.
