Oh! It's my Birthday on the 20th
NOT EDITED

  3:13 AM,  January 4th 2003
" Mom. Dad. " came the unsure whisper of the doe- eyed ten year old Elizabeth Black knocking on her parent's bedroom door.
' Sweetheart? ' Mom said sleepily opening the door with one hand and stifling her tired yawn with the other. '' What's wrong Muffin? Are you okay? We just put you to bed for the third time in one night about an hour ago. ''
'' One hour five minutes , thirty two seconds. " Elizabeth corrected. "Also, I stopped being ' Muffin ' five years ago Mom. Keep with the times! I'm ten today. Do not embarrass me in front of all my friends."
Elizabeth said with a serious expression. The frown slipped soon as she saw Dad trying to stifle a laugh. Slipping past a dumbfounded Mom , she jumped on the bed making herself comfortable under the blankets like she owned the place. Mom shook the shock off whispering ''I am already terrified of her teenage phase"
" So Ms Ten, isn't running to your parents' room at 3am..."
" 3:18. " Elizabeth corrected. Ms Black gave an exasperated sigh and continued "3:18.."
"Actually it's..." Mom gave her a look that shut her up.
" Running into your parents' room in the middle of the night. Isn't that a huge No -No! In the world of ten year olds? " Dad looked on. Enjoying the scene unfolding before him.
" Well, ummm well, okay ! Okay! It's true. It's an uncool thing to do. I just couldn't sleep okay? Running over everything in my head about my party today. It has to be awesome and you guys are not gonna tell anyone I came here tonight right? " Elizabeth said pouting.
" Of course not love! Dad will protect your dignity as the newest member of the Ten year olds society and Queen Bee of Gold Valley. Scout's honour. Happy birthday love " Dad said saluting.
   "Mom?" Elizabeth asked.
"Well," Mom started, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Mom!" Elizabeth said in a hurt voice, eyes glistening with tears threatening to rain down in torrents.
" Yes! Okay ! Okay! I'll keep your little secret alright! " Mom said arms held up in surrender. Elizabeth grinned and high - fived  her dad.
"Works every time" Elizabeth and Dad said together fist bumping. Mom gasped!
"Treachery!Conspiracy! High treason! Betrayal! " Mom yelled each 'big word' as she ran after Elizabeth and her father who were running to the Kitchen to find refuge from her. She ran wildly not caring about the loud thuds her feet were making. The perks of living in a castle - like huge mansion with no neighbors for ten miles. Running madly with your family at 3am and being sure no neighbor would be calling the cops on you for noise making. She smiled.
   ' I'll get you! " she yelled.
