#NOT EDITED
Drip drip, the echoing hollow sounds of the relentless rain accompanied by the creeping chill that danced across the hairs on my neck.
Drip drip, there it was again, a sound that meshed perfectly with the haunting hoot of the dark mysterious owls that perched like snipers from the highest branches of the majestic trees. Under the force of the hellish night breeze I shivered at the thought of what lurks beyond the cave. A particular owl hooted much louder than the others, that along with the cold, harsh and unforgiving ground that was stabbing into my spine, made me realise that it was night and I wasn't in bed. I attempted to open my eyes but only the right one opened . My left eye felt like something tight and sticky was keeping my eyelid sealed. With my open eye I looked around and the only thought that came to my mind was that I was lying in some sort of shallow cave and I was near the entrance. I noticed that the cave was cramped and damp. As I attempted lifting my exhausted form slowly up and out of the cave, the sky cleared enough for the bright soothing light of the moon to shine into the cave and I saw a form materialize above me. Sango displayed a flash of his legendary fury, bringing me face to face with what could easily be the unblinking eyes of death himself.
Minutes or maybe even hours later, I was running blindly through the forest in the heavy downpour heart pounding dangerously. Drops of rain ran down my face mixing well with the salt of my tears. The horrific scene I had seen in that flash of lightening replayed over and over in my head, my ears still ringing from the gut wrenching scream I had let out when I had stared into two cold orbs, orbs that had once been the bright glowing eyes of the ever bubbly Choima. Choima, who had always insisted on being addressed by her first name Betila because it was more 'chic', Choima who had later taken offense when anyone called her Betila after her Idol Davido released a hit track about his girlfriend Choima, Choima who had gotten into a mild argument with our Legal Methods professor on the very first lecture in our hundred level because he'd addressed us as '' gentlemen and gentlemen in skirts" and had explained that the legal profession didn't acknowledge women as practitioners of the profession so we were all just regarded as men. The same Choima that later argued with a group of male accounting students the very next for saying she could not be involved in their 'guy talk' because she was a 'girl' because well, her Legal Methods lecturer had said she was a 'gentleman in skirt' and a lot of unprintable words had flown around and she had displayed a shocking and very disturbing highly advanced vocabulary of cusses and swear words that made me cringe and stalk off.Read the full story here https://my.w.tt/yUCY1la02R
