Arabella's pov/thoughts
It is 8:30pm now, and I have been in the same building for around 10 tiring hours; I was ready to go home.
At the moment, I was sat in the corner, boredly scrolling on my phone as I waited for both Kate and Elle to return from a convention/meeting they had been planning to attend. They had figured I would've been bored if I went, so they ordered me to stay where I was until they were done and came back. I wasn't sure when they would be done exactly, and I was growing tired of waiting. Plus sitting on the hard ground had begun making me sore after a while.
The air in the large room seemed to have grown heavy, due to everyone running and walking in and out of the place; as well as talking and fangirling. It was quite crazy to see how into-it everyone got.
I pull up my contacts and press on Kate's, deciding to try and call her-it was about the best I could do in my current situation. I didn't even know my right from left in this building, so finding my two friends would be way beyond my abilities at the moment.
There was a couple of rings before the phone finally clicked and I started talking.
"Hello? Kate! Where are you?" I ask into the phone, frantically searching around to make sure her and Elle weren't laughing from the bushes. But there weren't any bushes, and no one was laughing. I was completely alone, yet others still roamed the area and greeted people. I was alone, on a personal level. I knew no one.
The phone beeped again before Kate finally responded, "Hello, you have reached the voicemail of-"
"Urgh!" I groaned as I threw my head into my knees, pulling my legs up to my chest and hugging them tightly. So much for calling Kate. I hung up in frustration.
Where could they be? I wondered silently to myself. They had left over an hour ago, how long could the convention possibly take?!
"R'you okay?" a voice asks from a distance, and when I look up, there seems to me no one there but the bustling crowds of girls and occasional guys or youtubers. I soon convince myself that I'd just imagined the voice, that is until it came again.
"Are you alright?" the voice asks and I look up once again to see a taller guy approaching me. He's wearing khaki cargo shorts and a plain maroon T-shirt. His brown hair is styled into a quiff and his skin is slightly tan, contrasting well with his green eyes.
I turn around to look for anyone else that he could've been talking to, but of course I'm sitting in the corner; there's no one else around. I blush lightly as I hear him chuckle.
I nod at his question, but instead of leaving, he sits on the floor next to me. I continue to scroll through my phone, acting as if I don't notice him staring at my screen. After a while, I began to feel very claustrophobic; as well as really creeped out. Where the heck were Kate and Elle?!
"Whatcha doin' sitting on the floor?" the guy asks, and I can see him scanning me over from the corner of my eyes. I can't help but feel self conscious as I lock my phone and cross my arms, wrapping them around my chubby body.
"M-my friends went off-f to a meeting thing," I mumble as I glance around the room again.
I don't want to be here, sat alone on the floor with some stranger sitting next to me. My friends had promised to stay with me. But right now, they seemed to be doing everything but keeping it.
I sighed.
"That sucks," the guy states and I nod slightly, before turning my head back to my lap.
"Yeah," I mutter in agreement, "Especially stating the fact I don't even watch YouTube."
The guy seems pretty taken back by this.
