Arabella's pov/thoughts
After finding Ricky's room and searching it for 20 minutes, I finally gave up and decided to use the guys' home phone to call it instead.
Ricky's pov/thought
*30 minutes before Arabella's pov above*
Walking up to the front door, I opened it quickly and swiftly made my way to the kitchen, where I was sure to find all 4 of them.
I had told the other guys I was going to the gym, when in reality I was going to meet with Jack, Andrew, Rebecca, and Jenn at their new apartment.
I know it was wrong that I had lied to the other guys, but I didn't know what else to do.
When I had first picked Arabella's phone of the ground (the night of the post-Vidcon accident), I swore to myself I wouldn't invade her privacy. But after 2 days, my curiosity got the best of me when it vibrated, and with that, I had slid it open. Thankfully-in my point of view-it didn't have a password, and it opened straight up to her messages.
The recently received one caught my eye, and I saw that it had been sent not moments before. Disobeying my gut feeling, I read it and halfway through my jaw dropped in astonishment.
The message was obviously from one of her friends. Though I don't exactly think I should be calling the sender that considering her rude message.
The message read:
From//Elle-Pooh🐻
sorry that we haven't been answering any of your calls or messages, we've been too busy having fun without you. it's amazing to see how much better this vacation has gotten without you dragging us down. i don't think either of us regret leaving you. anyways, ive gtg, bæ and i are going clubbing. come get your stuff while we're still out, we don't want to have to see your face two times in a day.
I stared in shock for a few seconds before the phone once again vibrated and a new message popped up. It was from the same girl.
From//Elle-Pooh🐻
oh, and i hope you don't mind that we've spent $100 of your money...tootles!
Gulping after I had finally understood what all that she meant, I started to worry about what was really happening that Arabella wasn't telling us about. She seemed to be happy, fun, and innocent, but these texts, I'm sure, would make her feel otherwise. And judging by the messages and the circumstances, it really made me question her excuse that stumbling into the street was all just an 'accident'.
Why was she keeping this a secret? I wondered to myself.
So, I got in my car and drove myself over to the Fab Five's new apartment. After all, I knew putting Arabella on the spot wouldn't be a good idea, nor telling all of the guys, who already seemed to be stressed by just coming back from tour and Vidcon.
"Heyyyyy!" I heard someone shout, bringing me out of my thoughts as another person jumped on my back.
"Ey, guys," I greeted both Jenn and Rebecca with a nervous laugh and smile.
"What's up, bro?" Rebecca asks, hopping off my back and sitting down on the kitchen counter.
"Ya, whatcha doin' here?" Jenn added, getting out a bag of chips from the fridge. She handed me an Arizona.
"Actually, I need your guys' opinion on something," I say nervously as I try and busy myself with taking a sip from the blue and pink can.
"Oooooh!" Rebecca cheered enthusiastically, winking at me creepily.
"Ew, no," I defend myself, knowing whatever she was thinking was probably completely wrong and dirty-minded. Well I guess that's Rebecca for ya.
"Then what?" Jenn questioned in curiosity as Rebecca pouted, still sitting on the counter.
"Well first, are the other guys hear too?" I ask.
"Yeah, well, jack and Andrew are both in the game room playing video games I think. And as for Andrea, I have no idea where she is," Rebecca told me and Jenn screamed for the other guys to come to the kitchen.
"Wha-oh hey Rick," Andrew greeted as he entered the kitchen, followed by a sulking Jack.
"Hey guys," I gave them a quick smile before Jenn nudged me and I ended up telling them the whole story about Arabella. How we dared Connor to give her his number at Vidcon, how she came to stay with us after the first accident, everything we learned when we all 'got to know her'. Everything. Including the text messages and what had happened after Panera, as well as my assumptions.
They all waited quietly for me to finish, an awkward silence settling over us all as I did.
"I just don't know what to do," I told them honestly, speaking up, "It may just be nothing, but at the same time she could really believe those texts. And by the looks of it, this isn't the first time she's received these kind of messages."
They gave me a confused look so I took her phone out of my back pocket. I know what you're thinking 'it's wrong to invade other people's property', but in a way this seemed to be the right thing to do.
I showed them the messages before tapping on her twitter app, where her news feed was completely made up of hate and harsh tweets.
I watched all of their reactions as they passed the phone around and read separately. I could tell the instant their eyes laid on the phone that they were feeling a mixture of anger, confusion, and sympathy for Arabella.
"That's sick," Rebecca gasped with her eyebrows scrunched together.
"Agreed." Jack and Andrew said in unison.
Jenn just looked pissed as we all know she was thinking the same thing.
"Why the hell would anyone say those things to her?" she asked quietly under her breath-she was trying to contain her anger, "What did she do?"
"I don't know," I said, glumly looking at my feet.
"Have you spoken to her about it?" Jack asks and I shake my head in response.
"What if she denies it? What if I scare her off?" I ask them worriedly, though I'm quickly brought to reality as Arabella's phone start vibrating in my hand.
"Who is it?" Jenn asks, pointing to the phone that I haven't yet answered.
"I don't know," I tell them honestly.
"Well, answer it!" Anthony exclaims and I shakily press the accept button.
"Hello?" I ask into the phone out of instinct, putting it on speaker so that everyone else could hear also.
There's a pause on the other side of the line before her voice echo's throughout the room.
"Ricky?"
Shit.
oooohh how do you think Arabella will respond to Ricky invading her privacy and reading her text messages? do you think Ricky will confess and ask/talk to her about it? so many questions my dearies... ;)
