Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - Slow Moving Millie

Cecilia Wilson was found barely alive deep in the other miniature world we know as the woods. A kind woman named Maggie came to her rescue unarmed and on horse back. Maggie reached down her hand like God was reaching through a crack in the sky to save her. She barely had the strength to grip the heroine's fingers, but once she managed, she was yanked up straight onto the horse with a mighty pull. Maggie could see that she was about to lose consciousness; her grip was weak around her waist, her clothes sagged on her from the lack of food, she was covered in blood and dirt, she was overwhelmed with emotions as someone had come to help her, and she was failing to respond to anything that Maggie was saying.

"Hold tight. H-ya!" Maggie encouraged her, the horse kicking forward with incredible speed in such little time.

That first encounter happened roughly a month ago, and Cecilia was almost fully rehabilitated now, and she did everything she could around the farm to help the family to represent how grateful she was about everything that was offered to her.

Everyday was the same for Cecilia; she would wake up, go and eat breakfast, get a shower, change clothing, brush her teeth, put on her make-up, and start helping out for the day. Her routine would sometimes take longer, due to her washing her long chestnut coloured hair (every other day), and shaving once a week, although her hair took an exceptionally long time to grow back. She always wore quite bright clothing, whether it be checked blouses, light coloured skirts, or cream cardigans and jumpers. Maggie had always told her that she didn't need to wear make-up, and her flawless complexion was nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever. It was kind of her to say so, but it didn't change Cecilia's mind about wearing it.

Her father was Native American, but she possessed her mother's genes; long brown locks, obvious freckles, long eyelashes, medium coloured skin and a slim, short, figure. But her family were no longer alive, and their similar features constantly reminded her of what she had lost. With the help of the Greene family, her life had slowly began to rebuild once again. Of course her life would never be the same as before, but neither would the rest of the world. Cecilia just had to deal with that. She relived the same day over and over again, and she was becoming quite accustomed to it. It was better than not living at all.

One day was different.

On one crisp Saturday morning, Cecilia decided to take her favourite book -'To Kill a Mockingbird' - out to the front porch, where she sat herself on the old rocking chair, gently swaying as she slowly began to read. It was a very peaceful morning; the birds were singing, the sky was a gorgeous pastel blue colour, and there wasn't a single walker in sight. It was perfection.

"Cecilia!"

Her head shot up towards the source of noise, three bodies running through the grassy field from the woods with a terrifying urgency. She stood up rapidly, squinting her eyes to try and focus on the faces of the figures. She didn't know if her eyes were deceiving her, but she thought one of the men were covered in blood, but she found a familiar face to place her attention on instead. Cecilia had identified Otis, her attention fully on him as he cupped his hands around his mouth.

"Cecilia! Get Hershel!" He demanded, still a fair distance away from her. Throwing her book onto the rocking chair, she swung open the screen and pushed the door open, sprinting off to the dining room to find Hershel sat eating chopped fruit whilst reading the bible.

"Hershel, you're needed-"

He whipped his head around to her, almost identically to how Cecilia reacted to her name being screamed seconds beforehand. He witnessed the horror on the young girl's face; the colour had completely drained from her, she was breathless, and her hands were visibly shaking. No make-up could have concealed the utter fright that was gaining control of her.

"Now."

That was when the alarm bells inside his head went off, forcing the chair back as he stood, rolling his sleeves up as he made his way to the front entrance. Patricia held the front door wide open for the unknown people, who came sprinting through the front and directly into the spare room quicker than you could blink your eye.

Patricia and Maggie both were called in to help Hershel prepare the room for a very serious procedure, Beth and Cecilia both staying out of the room to give them more space. The girls waited patiently in the living room, Beth sat on the couch and Cecilia sitting on the arm of a chair.

Eventually, Maggie, Otis and the two mysterious men came out of the room, Cecilia jumping up from her seated position, whilst Beth only turned her head.

"What happened out there?" Cecilia glimpsed confusedly between the men and Maggie, the two strangers appearing very upset, Otis appearing very guilty, and Maggie appearing very hesitant to speak.

"Otis was out huntin'. He came across a buck and shot it. But he didn't know a little boy, Carl, was stood on the other side and it hit him too." Maggie replied in a quiet voice, which contrasted massively from the chaos that was just taking place. The way she said it somehow implied that there wasn't much hope for the boy; medical equipment was already a struggle to maintain, and he would need more severe treatment than some disinfectant and a few bandages. Saving his life would be next to impossible, but of course no one would say it in front of his close relations that were in the room.

Beth's face completely contorted from being alarmed and shaken to being distressed and troubled, primarily because she appeared to be merely two or three years older than the victim, and the thought of him losing his life so early made her feel physically sick. Cecilia was lost for words, however the tension in the room wasn't making the strangers feel welcome, and comfort was the least Cecilia could offer. She swallowed the lump in her throat and shifted to a better stance, preparing herself for what she was going to say.

And this is where it all began.
