Wonderful Life - Katie Melua

An hour or so later, everyone began to prepare for bed, the new group members heading over to their camp, whilst the farm group went straight upstairs to sleep. Daryl had decided to shift a little bit closer to the group, as Lori's secret of being pregnant had been leaked to the rest of the group, and he felt like she would need a lot more protection.

"Hey, will you show me where Rick's tent is?"

A quiet voice came from behind him, just as he was killing the fire. Daryl span around to find Cecilia stood there, a rucksack over her shoulder.

"Sure, how come?" He lead the way towards it, Cecilia following closely behind him.

"I thought it would be better for the baby to sleep in a bed, and less stress for Rick and Carl." She responded, Daryl finding that extremely nice of her, not to mention brave.

"Yeah, I'll show you now." He shoved his hands in his pockets, taking her towards their little spot.

"It's this one." He pointed to the tent, which was fairly close to a line of trees, which already made her feel on edge. It must've been frightening for them to be so close to the trees, but at least they all had one another.

"Thanks." She sighed, she didn't really like the thought of being alone, but she was brave enough to be by herself.

Daryl looked between her and the tent, noticing her reluctance despite trying to appear like she wasn't phased at all.

"I wouldn't mind sharin' with you...-"

She peered at him, unsure why he would make such an offer; Cecilia and Daryl decided to cut ties with the negative relationship they began with, but she didn't think he would want her to be with him voluntarily. He dodged the suspicion in her eyes by examining the floor as he kicked a few stones about, his hands back in his pockets again.

"-y'know, if you need me to." He shrugged. Cecilia was extremely grateful for the offer, but she didn't want to appear desperate to stay with him, incase he got the wrong idea.

"Well, I guess it would be cool to have you as company since you aren't being a douche anymore..." She contemplated jokingly, Daryl smirking and meeting her eyes.

"And I'd like to get to know you." She admitted, Daryl nodding.

"I'll go get my shit." He spoke as he turned to walk away, Cecilia watching after him.

"You do that." She chuckled at his overuse of profanities, although it matched perfectly with his appearance and personality.

She climbed into the tent whilst he was gone, setting up both of their basic beds. Cecilia pulling her hair up into a ponytail, Daryl climbing in with his crossbow and another set of clothes, which he probably wouldn't use anyways.

She sat Indian style on her bed, Daryl zipping up the tent and laying himself in his own bed.

"Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable, but I'm only gonna sleep in my panties and bra, it's too hot." Cecilia more or less told him, rather than asking for permission.

"I don' mind." He shrugged it off, Cecilia tucking herself into the bed and taking off her clothes.

Cecilia seemed to get to sleep exceptionally quickly, considering she wasn't in the comfort of her own bed.

She drifted away without an issue.

That was until she opened her eyes to see two walkers climbing into the tent.

She jumped up in her bed, trying her best not to scream out as the two walkers poked their head through the flap, sniffing and searching for their next victims. Cecilia glanced over at Daryl to see him doing the exact same. He left his crossbow at the entrance, right under the intruder's noses.

The walkers must've smelt their fright, because they both stumbled in, both heading straight for Cecilia. She cowered away and tried her very best not to scream, as that would just attract more. The walkers crawled along the floor, slowing edging towards her. The weird thing was, they were practically silent, only low pitched moans escaping their disgustingly dried lips. Cecilia couldn't help but scream when she felt their presence practically on her body, taking another glance at Daryl, who continued to cower away in the opposite corner.

"Cece!" He yelped for her as she was pinned down against the bed, the walkers beginning to grab and lean down to her face. No matter how hard she pushed them off, they still manage to lean further and further down.

"Cece!" Daryl continued to shout, a sudden darkness taking over her sight.

"Cece!" She felt her body being shaken harshly, to which the darkness suddenly faded back to light, Daryl's visage being the first to greet her from above. He appeared panicked and alert whilst he released his hands from her face, but he was soon relieved.

"Sorry, I was having a nightmare." She apologised rubbing her tired eyes and pulling the covers back over her chest fully, tucking her arms in.

"You don't say." He groaned as he crawled over to his bed.

Cecilia rubbed her face with her hands before just leaving them there for a minute or so, trying to calm herself down more.

"You okay?" His voice was heard again, turning her head slightly peaking between her fingers, Daryl seeming genuinely concerned. He laid on his back with his hands resting on his stomach, his thumbs twiddling together.

"Yeah, I'm all good. Thanks, Daryl." She nodded and briefly grinned, Daryl scanning his eyes up the length of her body and nodding, as if he were double checking.

He mumbled something like "no problem" before turning over so that his back was facing her, sighing contently and probably falling right back to sleep.

Maybe sharing a tent with him wouldn't be so bad after all.
