February 14, 2012—8:00 AM

I placed on a pair of heels and after I was through Milan yelled “Are you ready?”

I walked out of the bedroom and nodded “Tell me why I agreed to be auctioned off?”

Milan laughed “Oh get over it Army. This is a charity event for people that are fighting heart disease.”

I rolled my eyes “I know but why must we be auctioned off as dates?”

“Because everyone on the team has to do it and the money we raise will be given to the charity.”

I sighed “That is the only benefit I see coming from that.”

Milan laughed and handed me my coat “Hey it’s going to be fun seeing how much you are worth to date.”

I placed my coat on “I’d pay five dollars to go on a date with you.”

Milan scoffed “Five dollars? Wow Army you are lucky that you aren’t being auctioned off based on personality because you’d get no bidders.”

I stuck my tongue out at Milan before leaving his condo. We drove toward the Hilton Hotel, the location where the auction was going to take place. Milan and I entered from the back of the building, which was good since the front parking lot was overcrowded with cars, and my guess was that not all of them were staying here as guests.

Milan and I walked backstage and as soon as we entered the ballroom area, we saw the rest of our team.

“Hey!” They all called out as we entered.

Bergy came over to me “Here is going to be our biggest seller of the day.”

“Oh goodie.” I drank some of my water before walking over to grab my tag number.  It was 22, and that meant I was going to be auctioned off last.

“Looks like they're saving the best for last.” Nathan said as he walked by me.

I scoffed “Oh shut up Horty, I’m really not in the mood.”

“What’s wrong?” I heard a voice say.

I turned around and saw that it was Tyler. The guys stopped their side conversations and just looked at us.

“Sorry but my boyfriend doesn’t want for me to talk to you.”

Tyler sighed “Lauren wai-“

I walked passed Tyler and entered the ballroom only to see that the place was packed with people. I smiled and waved hello to them before sitting down in my designated seat. It seemed like this was going to be a long ordeal.

8:45 AM

“Going once going twice and sold to the woman with the hat.” The auctioneer said.

I laughed and applauded since Brad was just sold for $1200, and the woman was none other than Brianna.

Milan then turned to me “Tyler keeps looking at you.”

“So.”

“He is sorry about what he did.”

I looked at Milan “I thought you weren’t going to interfere in my personal life anymore.”

Milan sighed “Lauren he is really a nice guy and I know you know that Tyler didn’t mean anything he said to you during that argument.”

“Please shut up Milan.”

During that moment the auctioneer then said “Now saving the best for last.” He turned towards me “Lauren Armstrong!!!”

The whole room filled with cheers along with some howls coming from the males. I just smiled and stood up, trying to make sure that I wasn’t going to kill myself in these damn heels. I stopped in the center of the stage.

The auctioneer said “One of you guys may be lucky enough to spend Valentine’s night on a date with the most wanted bachelorette in New England. Now let’s start the bidding.”

A man in the back on the room immediately shot up his hand “Two thousand dollars.”

However a second later another man countered that offer “Two thousand five hundred!”

The guys continued to go back and forth and the price just kept rising. I felt like I was some prize that all these males sought after. Then over the bidding I heard someone say “Forty-five thousand dollars.”

All the bidding stopped and the auctioneer asked “Who said that?”

“I did.”

I looked over and saw a woman in red dress making her way towards the stage. My eyes widened. I mean a WOMAN!?

“I bid forty-five thousand dollars.”

For the first time the auctioneer could not speak “Umm going once, going twice, and sold for forty-five thousand dollars to the wom-woman in the red dress.”

There was scattered applause throughout the room. I just sighed and walked over to the woman “I guess you’re my date.”

The woman laughed “Oh no honey I’m not going on a date with you. I am here on behalf of my client. He insisted to get a date with you, no matter how much the cost was.”

“Oh.” I was relieved that I wasn’t going on a date with a woman however I was uncomfortable not knowing who this guy was.

The woman smiled “Don’t worry you’ll meet him tonight.”

“When?”

She chuckled “You’ll see.”

Third Period—Rangers: 2 Bruins: 3

I looked up at the time and saw that there were two minutes left until the game was over. I began to shake my foot and as I was that was when I felt someone touch my shoulder.

“Are you okay?”

I turned and saw it was my Finnish pal. I sighed “I don’t know Rask.”

Tuukka chuckled “Why? You know that your date is going to pick you up here.”

“I know but Tuk what happens if this guy is a creeper?”

He shrugged “Just carry your skates with you. They’ll make an excellent weapon.”

I chuckled and that was when the game horn went off. The whole arena went crazy; I smiled and hugged Rask before going onto the ice to celebrate with my teammates.

10:45 PM

“You guys don’t need to hang around.” I said as I walked across the locker room to the mirror so I could place my earring on.

“Yeah we do.” Looch yawned.

I turned to him “What are you yawning about?”

Nathan chuckled “He spent Valentine’s day chasing around preschoolers.”

I laughed “Aw your date was a teacher?”

Looch nodded as he fought to keep his eyes open “Yeah she was.”

As I was laughing there was a knock at my door, as I turned around I saw that it was Tyler. I scoffed and proceeded back to getting ready.

Nathan stood up “Um Segs you should go, Army is getting ready for her date tonight.”

Tyler nodded “I know…I’m her date.”
