I wake up knowing I have to go to the north. It's about a days travel but the North isn't the most beautiful place. I pack up, and am off by day break. By the time I got to the main castle I knew why the Norther barbarians were raiding deeper in our land, and more frequently. The place was in ruins. The walls were nothing more than ruins, and there were no more than 100 men guarding the fort. I knew what I had to do.
I made a list. First we needed more men, and with the men I had I would repair the walls. Then i would train my men, most of them were old men, young boys, or criminals sent here as a punishment.
And so it began. My men collected what stones and rocks they could, and built the walls bigger and higher. This process took 5 days and wile they were building up the walls I sent a letter asking for 1,000 men. By day 7 with the walls restored to there former glory I saw from the horizon men. I thought it was my reinforcements, boy was I wrong. First I say the banners, and then they shouts of barbarians. They came with letters and rams, something they don't usually have, so this means one of us must have known there was a barbarian reading party out and told them, to attack before our reinforcements arrived. I slit up my hundred men 50 on the walls, and 50 protecting the gate. The men on the walls I slit more 15 with bow, and arrow, and 35 protecting the walls. The drums of the barbarians became louder, and louder, and then they were on top of us.
"Shoot for the men pushing forward the ram." I yelled in hast. As I herd the plung of bows. For 5 minuets it was constant arrow firing over, and over again. Then the ladders were a on us. I waited for 4, or 5 people to get on the later before hacking 2 bars of the latter in half and pushing the latter off the wall. Then the ram began to pound the gates as my men held there body's to the gate, but soon the great gates were open and the fifty men were overwhelmed. Despite this each off my 50 men fought like 10 barbarians. Yet they sadly fell one by one. Seeing this I rushed down the stairs and by the time I got to the bottom I cut down 2 barbarians and continued to fight tooth, and nail with my fellow soldiers. Hacking, and slashing, cutting down barbarian after barbarian for 2 hours. At this time the barbarians began to run. We were all confused till a man on the wall yelled
"Look reinforcements!" The 55 or so solders left cheered and shouted for our saviors as they ran off the barbarian forces. The battle was over.I went outside the walls to greet our saviors. I made my orders simple. They would rest for the day, and tomorrow at daw we would ride north for revenge. These people, no these barbarians, who had killed thousand reduced these great walls of Castle De Passage to rubble. They will pay.
The day had come. Today was the day we invade the north. These once barbarian lands will once again belong to the Johnsons. I left 400 men to guard Castle de Passage, and the remaining 600 went with me. We went north the whole time there was nothing but ice covered hills and dead trees that if you simply breathed on they would break. The travels were brutal men, and horses dropped from one by one. By the 3 day I had lost 23 men. Something was wrong though. It had been 3 days and we hadn't encountered any barbarians army's. With the bad weather we weren't that far from Castle De Passage, but with the flurry of Of snow, and ice we were forced to set camp. To be safe me and a trusted friend Titus went to scout out the area near camp. We were about a mile from camp when we found it. Thousands of barbarians dead, men, women, and children dead.
"what happened here." I asked.
"Sorry thats on a need to know basis." I turn around to find Titus with his sword at my neck. I chuckle before whiting out my own sword, and pinning his to the ground. I then took out a knife, and cut his hand causing him to drop the sword, and I put the knife to his neck, and demanded to know what happened.
"I'll never tell you." He tried to lung forward, but in doing so he lunged into the knife killing him. I continued to look at the slaughter before men when I noticed something. There was an area of snow bouncing up and down. When I uncovered it, it was a pure white timber wolf pup. I picked it up in my arms, and covered it with my cape to keep it warm.I was dead if I went back to camp so I looked for a cave. After about 30 minutes of searching I found a cave, and as i went deeper I found something. Well less something, and more someone. 100 or so Barbarian men, woman, and children. I froze.
" I mean you no harm." I say freezing, and fearing for both my life, and the life of the pup I had in my arms.
" We know, our scouts told us what happened, at our Villegas." He said, setting down an axe.
" That was a village." I said in shock.
" Yes those no good Rangers came in to our village killing everyone and burning the village to the ground." The man said with anger.
" I'm truly sorry, I myself have been betrayed by my men. If he are both seeking revenge maybe can help." I say with a smile.
" How is that." The man asks.
" There are about 5oo men camped about a mile or so here, they are disorganized, and not prepared for an attack."
I exclaimed.
" We have about 50 men that are in a well enough state to fight." He explained.
"That's all we need." I say drawing my sword. We sneaked up on the camp as the men were sleeping, and like the angel of death went through to camp, covering mouths before cutting throats or snapping necks. In a matter of minutes the camp was dead, all, but 100 loyal supporters lived. Now it was time to move south the enact the needed justice on what I once thought were my men.
