Chapter 1- The recruit

I looked at the information that we had gathered of the new recruits. And then the leader of the Midnight Sculls came crashing through the door. Oh crap.

"Have you found a member yet?" He asked the guys at the computer, including me.

"No." a guy said from my left.

"We'll find someone quickly. I'm growing impatient. Blake will graduate in a couple months. So we need to choose someone before then."

I didn't hear the rest he was saying because one of the recruits caught my eye. Her hair was brown at the roots, then went to platinum blonde. Her lips were rosy and full, but what caught me was her eyes. Framed by big glasses, were big, bright, brown, doe-like eyes.

I looked at the name below the picture of the girl that looked so familiar. Kimberly Kent.

"I know her." I mumble to myself.

I must have been louder than I thought because the boss turned to me. "What was that, son, I couldn't hear you." He asked.

I looked my father in the eyes and took a breath. "One of the recruits may go to my school."

"Who? How do you know him? If their younger then they could be molded into a perfect member, and could be second in command."

Now that is rude. How could he just assume that it's a guy? "Well, it's actually a girl. Her name is Kimberly Kent, and she's fourteen. And she is my best friend's sister." I say

"Okay, but how is she a year ahead? Shouldn't she be only an eighth grader?"

"Correction, she a senior, not only that, but she is the smartest kid in school. She could have went straight to Harvard, Yale, or Brown, but they didn't want a kid who couldn't even drive yet go to there school."

"What's she like?"

"Invisible. You'll never see her unless she wants to be seen. Always has headphones on, and always in the library. She may be fourteen, but she already looks nineteen, without the glasses and braces." I listed what I remember Rebbecca saying.

"What about her parents?"

"Dead. Her mother was a model and actress. Their father never told, but from what he was paid, they think he may have been a businessman. They also had an older brother, he was a business major in college. Six years ago they were all killed in a house fire. Kimberly saved her sister and herself Ever since then, they have lived with their aunt and uncle. Emily Kent is a famed businesswoman, and is big in the car buying industry. Reece Kent is a two time world champion MMA fighter.

You may have heard of at least Emily when you talk with friends over cars."

He stayed silent for what seemed like forever, then spoke. "I think we may have found a member."

Wait. Is he SMILING?
