Remember Me?

Mother Dearest

Our happy reunion was the best part of that day.

Because when we pulled away Tony and Zack were standing in the doorway, our parents had already seen them. My dad stood up already on his way to Tony, "You get out of my house you street rat you have no right to be here..." he stopped mid sentence when Emma stepped in between them.

 "Dad you will not talk that way about him and he has every right to be here. If you won't allow him to be here I'll leave right with him." She threatened.

I looked at Zack my eyes telling him to do something but we were both silent and frozen. My father looked aghast, but slowly he backed away and sat back down beside my mother who hadn't moved since we entered the house. Quietly we all sat down on the long sofa opposite my parents, Zack and Tony on the ends, me and Emma right next to them, and Cory squashed in between us. Emma gripped my hand and I held hers back tight, I gulped the large bulge in my throat and slowly opened my mouth.

 "Someone say something."

Silence.

I sighed, "Okay I brought Emma home for the benefit of all of us, and all you guys are gonna do is sit there?"

 "I knew this was a bad idea" Emma whispered, "I came back to fix what I did."

 "What you did was leave and never come back, you never called or even tried to tell us you were okay Emma! Jesus Christ we thought you were dead!" Mum screamed

 "Don't you think I know that Mother!? It hurt me inside knowing what I did and I still have this pain in my heart just at the thought of how I left." Emma shouted back.

 "Then why did you leave Emma? That's all I want to know."

She looked at me and I nodded, her eyes went to Cory, "Little man please don't hate me I don't want you to think lowly of me, but I left for one reason and one reason only" she took a deep breath, "Mum and Dad were going to send me to a boarding school across the country."

His eyes widened, "What why!?"

 "Your sister did a terrible thing Cory, please go to your room until...." Emma cut my dad off.

 "I had sex Cory." She deadpanned and I giggled, Zack snickered and Tony turned crimson red, "Jenna it's not funny."

I giggled and she smiled, this made my mother furious, "This is no laughing matter Emma you did something you should have waited to do you weren't ready and..."

 "Because I wasn't ready you were going to send me across the country!? That is such a good alternative mother, just send me and my problems away. You didn't stop and think maybe I have feelings or maybe that we could have worked it out together?"

 "Emma you weren't ready."

She laughed, "You're right dad I wasn't ready but you know I took responsibility, I grew up and took responsibility just like you guys never thought I would."

Cory looked completely lost, "What are you guys talking about?"

We all looked at him but said nothing Emma looked at me and nodded toward the door, we stood up and the boys followed. My parents said nothing as we walked out the door.

She crossed her arms over her chest and sighed, "Well that went..."

 "Interestingly?" Tony asked.

 "Awkward." Zack laughed.

 "Neither I don't even have a word for it" her eyes found mine, "Jenna call Andi."

 "Now?"

 "Right now."
