Roaming back - eventually - into the school building, I find myself shocked that not a single pair of eyes flicker to me, it's as if I'm now, all of a sudden invisible, completely transparent like a ghost ranging the grounds without any recollection or anyone being aware. I question their sudden change of mood and decide to voice my thoughts.

"What's wrong with them all of a sudden?"

"What? Did you like being the center of attention, V?" She asks in a sly yet sarcastic voice. I give her a dirty look, mustering up a stink eye then thrashing it at her.

"I'm kidding, Vivian, calm down," her lips tug up into a snicker, her eyes darkening in an odd way. "And to answer your question...I don't know what's wrong with them. It was like they were going on tirades about you and how you burned Lysander, which is honestly complete gibberish, you don't even own a single lighter, let alone ever go near him!"

  She doesn't get it...

"I came in here searching for you, one second they were jabbering on and on about you, then they completely went silent, like completely silent, as if they were controlled...like robots...ain't that strange?" She conveys to my ear, and I feel all the blood rush out of my cheeks, my skin turning pale.

I catch sight of Alakade standing from his spot adjacent from Adrian, gliding across the floor and out the doors leading to the voided, illuminated halls.

"No, no...no, I...it's not strange," I manage to choke on intakes of air, My irises flicker from place to face, until they land on one, single identity, and I don't find myself surprised when I find them staring right back at me with a sinister grin painted on their face, their cheeks never twitching, their lips never faltering.

From the very corner, I see Rey give me a questioned gaze, her brows knitted and her eyes half closed.

"I...I'll talk to you later," I distantly state, never breaking my gaze from Adrian.

"Uh, okay...I'll see you later!" I hear her call from behind me, though by the time I hear it, I'm already zipping through the door and it doesn't take me long to find the one I need to see, the one - in a way - has the answers to all of my questions.

"What did he do to them? What did Adrian do to everyone in that room?!" I whisper-shout, inflamed at the matter of subject.

"Where were you two nights ago?" He calmly asks, the exact opposite of how I went on about my question.

"I asked you first!"

"Mind control," he simply states blankly, as if he does not care, which is probably - knowing him - accurate.
