We stride through the forest, getting closer to the bright lights that illuminate the sky with every inch we walk, and it's only now that I realize that the lights were the same ones that Alakade tried to show me, before be got captured. The sun is now just barely above the trees now, lighting the ground very vaguely, though the clouds overhead block most of the blinding rays.
Alakade is somewhere ahead, lost in the group of the other six escorts that are surrounding me, but more like towering over me like the flawless buildings in New York once did. We're now at the entrance of the building, that strangely resembles a mansion and a small cottage, the vintage style shown entirely.
At the front, there stand four incredibly tall pillars that seem to be made of stone, and as we reach closer to them, I see the faint cracks within the stone from what I assume is caused by old age or even erosion. The rest of the building stands at an astounding height, my neck getting a cramp just from looking up so high, though the trees seem to reach higher than the roof, somehow...
I don't know what to call it, a house or a mansion, it's almost too big to be a mansion though. The rest of the exterior is mainly polished, dark, oak wood that is in pristine shape, not old, but it seems as if it's entirely new. Hanging on each window sill is a rather large basket with dead plants growing within it, icicles hang from the bottom of each basket, droplets of water coming from the ends of each icicle.
Two lanterns hang adjacent from one another at the door, illuminating the small stone path and porch that is set in the front, adding on to the vintage feel of the mansion. I secretly sneak a glance at one of the escorts, their hard look focused forward, and their lips pressed into a very thin line.
His eyes flicker and I immediately avert my gaze to the ground, and I feel his grip tighten around my arms. We suddenly stop once we reach the oak door that blends in with the exterior wood, seeming invisible. Aldon pounds on the door instead of just entering.
Moments later, the door swings open, revealing a brightly lighted foyer; we resume walking, We walk through the door, and as we pass, people stare. They're all over, littering the floor, people of all ages. Elders, Middle Agers, Teens, even children stare wide-eyed at us.
What is this place?
We become isolated from the people, striding down a sustained, and dimly lit hallway chills running up my spine. I only wonder how the shirtless escorts aren't cold, and I have on layers, they only have ripped jeans. The walls are bare, no pictures or paintings hang on the walls, there are no window indents in the walls either, adding to the reasoning why it is awfully dark in the hall.
We take a turn, into a room, the door being opened immediately without a knock. We file inside, and I'm instantly shoved to my knees once again, as I was back in the forest. The escorts force Alakade to his knees too, right next to me, but they keep a harsh grip on him, and they do one me too.
Aldon comes around the front to face us, crossing his arms over his bare chest, his muscles flexing, making me even more petrified than before, he reminds me of a bouncer, one that is willing to fight whoever gets in his way. He strides closer to me, then to Alakade, kneeling down in front of him, and muttering something to him I can't make out.
But at that very moment, a different door, one on the side of the wall - adjacent to the one we entered - opens rapidly. In comes a woman and a man, both seeming to be in their early thirties enter the room, but they aren't the only ones that do, for they are shortly followed by another woman, though I can't see her face for she is hidden behind the other two.
"Aldon, what is the meaning of this?! I was in a very important meeting," the woman asks frantically and emerges from behind the two ones that entered in with her. At that instant, my eyes dilate in disbelief for what they see, and I begin to think I'm hallucinating, for the woman in front of me can't be who I think it is.
It can't be...
"Luna Damaris, my condolences, I'm deeply sorry for the disturbance, but these two entered the pack boundary, and we caught them," he conveys.
Damaris...
Her eyes flicker up and it's as if her blank face is hit with an emotion so strong, it nearly sweeps her off her feet. SHe loses balance for a minute, her mouth falling open once her familiar gray eyes meet mine.
"Aldon! Let them both go this instant!" She orders, not so gracefully staggering towards me, and at this point, my vision is blurry from tears that are threatening to fall down my face. They aren't tears of sadness, but rather tears of happiness. The harsh grip on my arms is released instantly, and she kneels down right in front of me, her hand cupping my right cheek, the pad of her thumb right beside my eye.
"Vivian..."
"Mom..."
Her arms wrap tightly around my body, pulling me vigorously forward, the feeling I've missed so much once again overflowing over me.
