A/N: Not that this matters...but this is the first time a book of mine has bypassed 40 chapters!🙂***
I awake to the disgusting smell of oil and exhaust smoke from semi trucks. I rub at my eyes, crumbs falling to my lap as I do. I lift my head slowly, but I still manage to become dizzy, black spots dotting my vision as I scrutinize the gas station the car is parked in.
Directly adjacent from me, is the gas station building. I will always remember when I would beg my parents if I could get candy from there, the endless rows of the sugary goodness with colorful wrappers, popping out on the shelves, calling my name; every aisle I would turn with my small legs carrying me would always seem to get me excited, excited in a way I miss, for I haven't been excited ever since my last tenth birthday.
My eyes flicker to the back seat, then the trunk window, where two semi-trucks are parked with pumps stuck into the side hole, the small door open as methanol oil flows through the tube, and into the large tank of the vehicle. The two. Semi trucks are parked side by side as the drivers converse casually. My eyes averted from them, and back to the building, then the driver's seat, that is empty.
I peer out of the windshield, and into the window of the gas station building, though my view is somewhat blocked from posters and other notifications. I spot a security camera at the corner of the building, watching the almost vacant lot. I don't know why, but security cameras have always scared me, for the fact that they're always watching, and on the other side of that camera is a police - possibly - shoveling donuts into their mouth.
Just as my eyes flicker from the camera back to the building, I spot him, standing tall over the self, his eyes flickering from the cashier who has their head down and earphones in, then they flicker back to the shelf. My mind starts to ponder what he's doing, and why he's acting so suspicious like.
But my questions are quickly answered when I see him pull one side of his black leather jacket that was different from before open, and he tucks something into it, though I don't know or see what. I suck in a sharp breath, not believing my eyes as he makes his way towards the door, pulling it open, but the alarm system doesn't go off when he passes.
He casually strides to the side of the car door, pulling it open and slipping inside, taking out what he had just stolen from his jacket. My eyes widen as I see what it is, a bottle of liquor.
"Alakade! Are you deranged!" I bellow in his ear, though he doesn't react in any way, once again.
He takes off the cap, lifting the bottom of the bottle up and drinking it, I watch as his Adam's apple bobs up and then back down as he swallows the liquid, letting out a sigh of satisfaction and pleasure.
"If that means smart, then yes," he states, taking another sip.
"No! You idiot! It means insane! Why did you steal that?!" I yell.
He simply shrugs as if it isn't a big deal at all to him, as if stealing is in his normal, everyday routine, which I wouldn't be surprised if it were. "I'm underaged, so therefore, I have to steal," he says.
"You don't have to anything! Why do you do it?!"
"How do you think I get over my emotions so quickly? And learn to hide them?"
At this, I speak no more, I don't open my mouth, I stay silent.
"This stuff works," he says, tipping it off and placing the cap back on it, then stowing it beneath the car seat. I give him a look of disgust one more time, as he just slyly smiles at me.
"You're a psycho," I state, crossing my arms gently over my still bloodied clothes.
"Yes. Yes, I am."
